Ok so last nite I was @ this Black Cultural Festival w/ my friends. I've gone for the past 13 years & I've always had fun & there's never been any real drama. So tell me why, within the first hour of being there, there was a big **** fight. A group of guys was chasin' this dude, caught him, threw him to the ground, and stomped the hell outta his ****. Of couse the police come running & take everybody away & it was ok for a minute. But then the people running the festival decide to avoid further fights by closing up half an hour early. So me & my 2 friends are by the gates about to leave & everybody who was in the festival starts running to the gates at a straight sprint. We have no clue what's goin on til we hear gunshots & then see smoke in the air. So we start runnin too but it turns out the cops sprayed mace everywhere to stop the fight I have breathing problems & couldn't even walk so sum random guy picked me up & got me across the street where the air was clear. When I got outta there I was like wtf.
But the thing I don't understand is why people choose the worse times to bring up they beef. Why black folks always gotta be so rowdy & end up not having anything? People mess up & get things taken away then they wanna wonder why it happens. Can anyone help me understand why so many of our black people choose to make the rest of us look bad?
Man DC cant have nothin without somebody gettin shot or ****....
Unifest (supposed to promote black unity) got a shootin every year
Georgia Ave Day (shootin almost every year)
Hell they was even shootin at the zoo on Easter Monday
one quick question: what does SMH stand for? okay...back to this thread. i'm feeling everybody about the ignorance but i think that it means we just have to try harder to be the opposite of that. true, it can seem unfair that we have to try to keep our heads on straight all the time instead of those who behave ignorantly, but where else are people going to see positive images of black people? at my school all the white kids are always making jokes about being shot if they go to oakland like everybody there walks down the street with gun in hand waiting to **** somebody. and this hurts me because that's my hometown and i know it's not always like that. but instead of flashing on these kids and furthering the ignorance, i try to teach them otherwise. not to say that murders don't happen in oakland or any other city but when it gets to a point that people who've never even been there are making judgements about it...it's a much bigger problem. i don't really know where i'm going with this...i just wanted to share my opinion.
Yea black people know how to mess up a good thing......In Hampton they have this festival/carnival thing called Bay Days every yeat in Sept. And every year somebody gets to shootin....and i mean there are kids and families everywhere. Its crazy. I stopped goin to Bay Days my senior year cuz i almost got shot.....*smh*....dayum shame. :?
:? No disrespect, but you live in Dayton....that is common practice in that city.... Hell, my dad is from Dayton; I know how crazy yall get.....Holla....
smh@ that comment...if you look above you'll see other people talking about similar situations. ignorant black people are everywhere. not just dayton.
Really...Dayton and tha Nati is small time when it comes to bigger stuff like down here in Atlanta....and in DC....
Man that kind of stuff happens everywhere...I just went to a step show about 2 weeks ago and it happened to be free...it was all cool until the end, when people decided to start **** off fireworks in the parking lot, and they were fighting, throwing money (like some dummies :? ), and they searched a few people's cars and found a crowbar in one dude's car...it was ridiculous!
It's because we just don't know how to act and have a problem with what we see in the mirror everyday. It is truely sad but not shocking. We have been doing things like this for a long time. Look back in history you will see where all of this stemmed from :?
