Wow...it's weird that you would post this. I learned about this myself from Howard students. It's been around for a while and I know Uppity Negro got alot of support from DC, but I live in Atlanta and had never heard about it until someone posted it on the boards.
I went to the website and i really like the idea that they're trying to portray. I would love to see more from their clothing line, but if not the message speaks volumes.
If you could refer to my signature. I've ordered one. And you get alot of wtf looks from people. I know I went to wal-mart with it on(mind you i live in the south full of white people) so i go to get a buggy and this white guy was like "Your not uppity are you? Your not what your shirt says" and I was like "Why yes I am. Thank You for asking". Some people view it in a bad way, but those are the ones who are oblivious to its meaning. Too mad she doesn't do vending anymore.
I think its like $31.50 all together, shipping and handleing and all that stuff
Oh, snap. I still may have to invest to get one of those shirts. I like wearin clothes that talk. It allows people to know a lil somethin about me before even talkin to me.
Sorry this thread was started about a year ago, so that link is no longer active. Here's the NEW link. www.uppitynegro.com
I will say this about the shirts. Be careful when you wear them. Because some people aren't aware of what it stands for and what it means. I mean people will give you stares and folks will have their conceptions about you. Also, be ready to tell what the shirt means, because as I said people will question the reason you're wearing that shirt. So, if you can't handle the heat, dont buy the shirt.
