But u know how they treat paper! they humiliate them every chance they get. Some people might have the letters, but still want to earn the right to wear those letters prodly without being humilated and not respeced cuz they didnt have a process. I can see you doing it right after the whole paper thing but to wait a year and some months is stupid. question? dont bite my head off or anything- now a days once people get put on line dont they basically know they got there letters either way if they drop they can finish paper cuz pleging is outlawd period or just never go on line, just go paper. They just will face the fact of never being respected. Made people are respected either way cuz aint nobody supposed to know about ur process n e wayz, just know you aint skate.
If you didn't earn them before the fact, you still haven't earned them. I thought I made this pretty clear.

I understand what your saying, but u you know that sometimes there are complications with trying to start line before everything, like extra watch by a grad chapter etc., so you have to start afterward. But if the person is down to be made and want it even after they signed the papers I say gone head and earn your respect. I think i made that clear earliar. CUZ U KNOW DONT NOBODY WANT TO BE CLASSIFIED AS PAPER EXCEPT THOSE WHO NEVER HAD INTENSIONS OF BEING MADE. Now tell me that aint tru. But I guess different strokes for different folks. In the end made regardless of when gets you respect from majority not minority

Let's just say that every organization is so much larger than the respective chapters. So you will always be able to find frats/sorors who respect you whether your chapter prophytes do or not. So, like I said before, don't be a fool for something you already have. And true frats/sorors respect you regardless. I look at all Deltas as having 9 pearls that are just as good as mine.

Its very lofty to think that you will get respect if you are paper. Seriously however if I do something i want all or none. I know many people who belong to the organiztion in which I'm interested (young and old) whenever the subject of paper comes up I get disapproval. Though they are never disrespectful they never hold that brother in the sme regard as one who was made. I appreciate the response I've received here. But I have talked with some people i trust who have informed me on ways to get around the obstacles before me. My purpose asking here was to get a response from members from various greek orgs. Again, I appreciate the response but I don't think many of you are being honest with me you cant have the same bond with a person if you dont share the same struggle ( besides the fact that we are all Black, for the most part). Anything you want is worth working for , I plan to work for mine before or after the fact... Thats if I get the call.

I have much respect for people who go back online. Because of the constraints of some of the organizations "intake" process, and the scrutiny under which some of the organizations are watched, it can become difficult for some chapters to hold an effective pledge process. Those individuals who submit themselves to the "pledge" process after "getting" their letters get props from me as well. It is a fraternity/sorority isn't it? Why would you want to join something that doesn't like you or respect you? I realize that it's a bigger org than the chapter you begin with, but these are the people you're going to see everyday. And to get their respect, I'd say go ahead. It will only bolster the friendships that joining these types of organization is supposed to foster.

My "bond in the struggle" is with my line sisters. My bond with the rest of my sorors is due to the common love of Delta. Paper or plastic, a Delta is a Delta. There is no easy way into Delta, regardless if you are considered paper or not. The process is all about sacrafice, bonding, and intense learning. That's whether you pledge at 19 or 89. There is no easy way into Delta!

I respectfully disagree. Part of the challenge of being on line or pledging is to get around such scutiny. The whole process is full of thinking above the ordinary levels of thinking. Why should that be any different. To post-pledge for the reason you gave is just being lazy, in my opinion.

It's easy for you to say, because we all know that your organization has a longer nationally mandated "process" than some of the rest of us. However, even that doesn't mean you have a true "chapter" bond. I've seen some of your sorors from a re-activated chapter at my school, go back online after already having revealed themselves on campus (they didn't probate). They were all at the basketball game together. When they tried to attend a coming out show at another school, the alumni members of the chapter let that school's chapter know about their "process" and they got ran off that university's yard. Those young ladies, were woman enough to go to their alumni members and ask them to indoctrinate them into the ways of that chapter. Most of them went BACK online for eight weeks, just so they could gain acceptance. They had an official coming out show in the spring, and now they are both accepted and respected. My cousin was on that line and went back online after she had already graduated college. That gets much respect from me. I've seen brothers cross into the "bond" (I said bond, not frat) months after finishing their intake process. I and most older greeks believe intake is a joke, and in order to rectify that, sometimes a lil post-pledging is needed. Even younger graduate neophytes often wish to be post-pledged or to pledge with the undergraduate chapter to gain acceptance. Now I don't disrespect anyone's process. Hell I'm old-school, I've grown past that, but for your average undergraduate being accepted by your peers is a critical part of becoming a member. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

^^^I understand where you are coming from. And I do agree to disagree. Whether the people in question are my sorors or not, I still stand by my original point. When people do something as dumb as pledging when they already have letters over something as childish as "respect," I have to question their motives for joining the organization in the first place.
