do you call everyone you're cool with your "friend"? now, be honest...
my mom once told me this story about when she was younger & got in trouble b/c her dad heard her say she was going to her "friend"'s house to play or whateva....he told her "everyone is not your friend - your acquaintance, maybe...but not your friend"...
i've come to see that that is so true...but still it feels a little awkward referring to certain people in your life who have FRIEND TENDANCIES (lol, 4 lack of better term) as simply, "acquaintances"...is there a better (or alternative) word for that rank?
& @ what point do you feel someone crosses over from "acquaintance" to "friend," & once that person has received that title, is there ever possibility of demotion (as in, being brought back down to just an "acquaintance"), and if so, were they ever really good enough to be called a 'friend' to begin with?when does a 'friend' become a best friend? & exactly how many 'best' friends do you have? do these people actually really deserve to be called your 'BEST friend/s'??? what have they done to deserve it?!?
& finally...we as Black people love using the terms "homie"...."homegirl/my girl"...."homeboy/my boy"...."road dawg"...etc...& i don't see anything wrong w/ it (i know i definitely use 'em!), but i just want to know - do these names rank higher or lower than the title of 'friend'...or are they equivalent??
I have a few TRUE Friends.. My closest friends @ skool are my POD (my sisters in the pod and the brother pod.. don't ask) Those people are the ones I am accountable to at all times.... Then I have some friends and some peeps...this line has gotten blurry because I got REALLY close to my linemembers in Choir.. and most of my choir as a whole... Umm.. I have homies (usually, these are the people that you might not see everyday, but when you do.. its on and poppin).. and then I have acquaintances.... these are the people that I'm in an org w/ or a class w/ or We have mutual friends...
I agree w/ Kenya on the whole be a friend to e'ryone thing... I'll be as friendly as possible (w/o being fake) but there are only a certain number of people that I allow to really get close to me...
Well, grade school and high school, I have realized that I dont have many friends or aquaintances. I can say that I have 1 best friend, and 4 other close friends. The others (imma say about 7 or 8 people) are just aquaintances. My best friend and I might as well be sisters because we have a lot in common and we can tell everything to each other. At times I feel like she is my only friend because she has been there for me through everything and she's the only one that I have no problem trusting. Oh, lets not forget about the hata bugs.........Ummmm, let me just step on them and gone bout my business, ya heard me!!
I have two very good friends...who been my friends since we were in the play pin....lol

As soon as I graduated and MOVED on with my life I realized that half the "friends" I had in school were some mark **** bytch **** pu$$ies and they can kiss my ****. Buncha needy **** fuccers that expected me to be all up in they **** once we went to college. College is an experience and you are suppose to GROW and LEARN... meet new people. These pansies thought that since I didn't call they bytch **** every weekend that I was some kind of traitor and tried to turn everyone at my high school agianst me. Couldn't make no damn freinds at they school and expected me to move heaven and earth so that they would have some company. Man fucc YOU. That why I realized that when I left high shcool I had ONE friend and that's my best freind. :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:
In college *whew* I have 5 close freind, one of them being my second best freind, my boyfreind. Everybody else..yeah they cool...but they are considered just people I know.
I have 4 Friends and we're basically family.
I have alot of "cool" people that i've begun to grow apart from.
and to answer your question about can Friends or Cool ppl's be Demoted. Yes they can..but the people i consider friends would have to do some REALLY grimey ****while the "Cool" ppls would have to simply **** me off one day.

They cross when yall on some real cool trustworthy shyt..Of course its such thing as a demotion..its when they fucck up. They prolly wasnt a good friend to begin with..or maybe they was and got corrupted...anything is possible.

Hmmm..It takes time. I kno me and my current bestfriend wasnt even cool like..It use to be a group of 4..me ..her and 2 other girls and we always kicked it..but the other 2 always use to be on some secret typa shyt..so we jus started kickin it w/o them..And we became closer. I only have 1 ...well 2 best friends..a girl and a guy..I kick it with the girl ALL the time..and the guy..well its kinda odd..i dont kno how to explain it..Both of em deserve it..they've been there for me when time was rough..and they both kno ALOT of ****about me..those are the only 2 ppl when i go out somewhere i kno if something goes down they ready to box with me.

I guess they could..I call my bestfriend my road dawg..I mean i dunno..Like i said..I never hung in big crowds..people i jus say whussup 2..they cool peoples..I've never kicked it with someone who was outside my circle.
Me personally it just depends on who the person is. A person could either be an associate, a friend, or a confidnant. A friend is just a perosn that you are fimilar with more so than other people. If I walk by you a couple of times and speak you're not a friend. Some people like to be on some other type stuff alot of the time so they are merely associates. I have no problem calling people who most would consider an acquaintance to be a friend because I put friends and confdants in two different categories. If it is someone that I amn around on a regular basis, can confide in, and talk to majority of the time thats a confidant to me. My confidants are just those who are in my littlew crew at school, and my best friend back home. Alot of other people are just friends.
