at Morehouse we have NSO, and intense 5 day ordeal that seperates the men form the boys. Near the end, many are left crying for thier mommies while the lucky few are welcomed to the house... j/k

At Howard, we have Freshman Week as well, most events are hosted by the Campus Pals and then you have those little "mandatory" meetings that no one goes to that tell you about the History of Howard, what is expected of you, etc. But as far as social events... The first night was "Meet Your Pal Night!" where you just meet your Campus Pal...each freshman has one..then everyone goes on the Yard and just get to know each. It's held at nighttime and it's pretty fun. Just a big Meet and Greet type of thing. Then we had an Ice Cream Social...another Meet and Greet but it's held during the day and everyone is eating ice cream. That is held on the patio behind the cafe. Then of course, is the "Dating Game". It's just a combination of those old dating games that used to be on tv like when a guy is on one side of the wall and then three girls on the other and he has to pick. Then they tried to switch it up a little. Where the girl has to pick her date based on how he spits game to her...but thing is...he had to freestyle it. Like a little battle thing between two other guys. And last of the Dating Game was the part I was in where a guy is blind-folded and three girls dance on him. He chooses the one that breaks him off the best. Unfortunately, I won!!! Cause I just got that motion in my ocean!!!8) The next day is this thing called the "Variety Show". It's like "In Living Color" but it's performed by the Campus Pals. It was really funny. They acted out different scenes from Making Da Band and everything. I loved it!!! Then we went to Six Flags for Labor Day!! And the finale was just a big party called the BlackBurn Party!!! It was just too many locals there for me! TAke note that there was a DJ at every event. Even at Six Flags during the Lunch!!! But I really did enjoy myself that week!

I think that everybody had orientation week, but I do remember that we had some parties, Apollo night, and some other stuff. To be honest wit you, I can't even remember everthing that we did.

At North Carolina A&T(Aggie Pride) they have a week for orientation where the incoming freshman get an overview of what is expected of them and what to expect. There are plenty of events for the students to attend (i.e. tours, talent shows, step shows, parties) and the list goes on. Try to be prepared for anything.
It was crunk. 8)

....wouldn't you like to know. I'll give you a hint....I'm from the south. Anyway, our events this week will basically give you all an oppurtunity to get to know us better and see what CP is all about. Applications will be available too. Tonight is Meet Your Pal Night: the remix, which will basically give a chance for everybody to meet each other once again. ( You might not be in the room with your pal though). Tomorrow( TUES.) is probably the most important night, that is the interest meeting. We will answer a lot of questions then. As for the rest of the week, they will just be more fun events. Do you plan on coming to our events? Hope to see you there

Okay...are you male or female? What's your pal name? Do you know me? Have you seen me around campus before? Do I speak to you? These are the things I need to know because telling me that you are from the south helps nothing at all. Do you know how many pals we have that are from the south?

Let me tell ya this much... dont worry about the first week of school. A schedule is usually planned out for the freshman class anyway. you dont have to abide by the schedule but it would be in your best interest if you do. After that week once school starts things might start slow but you just gotta get to know people. Make friends not enemies. get to know your surroundings so you will know where you are and feel more comfortable. Make sure you know all the important buildings on the campus and visit them everyonce in a while just b/c aight. College life is gonna be like high school except you dont leave you stay the night and everything is on you cause if your friends aint thinkin about waking you up for your class because you oversleepin you are the one taking the L. so dont worry about parties the first week. trust they gonna be lined up all the time after that anyway. for the first week just be real laid back and do what is needed so you can do what you want to do later. got it.
