do you have to pay dues in you frat/soro?? Posted on 08-04-2004

I was doing some research on AKA's, and I noticed something about "re-activation fees" which leads me to believe that if you don't pay some kinda dues, you're out....but then if u want back in you gotta pay. Maybe I got it twisted... Do you have to pay dues in the frat/soro you're in, and is this like, a normal thing , or just AKA's?

I understand that they internet is a great way to get (sometimes dumb) questions answered anonymously. I'm not calling your question dumb, but I do think tha it was not well thought out. How do you think the business side of the soroty is run? You can only throw so many parties and have so many fund raisers in order to effectively run an organization, and that's at the chapter level. At the international level, there has to be another way to raise funds. Do you think the basileus and her crew has time, energy, or even the talent to go around the country competing in step shows for money? Think deeper, chile. Quit catching half thoughts in your brain and running to the message boards with these half-thought-out questions. Yu are making yourself look extrememly Jessica Simpsonesque.
To the person wondering if I was in college...If I were in college, do you think I would be asking this question?? Obviously if I were in college, where greek life is very common, I would know. But I asked the question about college life because I'm not living college. To the person that made the very rude reply that I quoted...You make it seem like I'm automatically supposed to know this Sh*t. Am I a member of any sorority?? Am I in college?? No. So, before you go off making your lil smart **** remakrs about how I'm making myself look "Jessica Simpsonesqe" maybe you should have thought that I honestly just did not know the answer. I never mentioned that all the money for organizations were generated thru fund raisers, or step shows...so stop making assumptions...because you're making an **** of yourself. and for the record...I asked the question because on the AKA site they mentioned dues, ond on the Delta's site, they didn't. So I didn't know if dues were common practice or not. Have a good day
I'm just asking that you think more thoroughly. I am not looking like an ****. You just REALLY need to think about what you are saying. Deltas pay dues. I know. I am one. Everyone pays dues. The organizations wouldn't be able to run without dues. I didn't say you mentioned staepshows. I was illustrating a point. A point that seemed to zoom right over your head. How about just sitting bac and reading for a while, rather than posting. When you have gotten a feel of the climate here and absorbed more information, then I advise you to begin posting. Until then, you are giving Jessica a run for her money.

Pepsi, it's just plain old common sense to observe and research rather than coming out the mouth with a bunch of dumb ish. And no I haven't forgotten what it was like to not know enough about the org I was interested in. That is precisely why I say the things I do. When I knew nothing, I researched. I didn't come out my face all Jessica-like and stuff. And neither did plenty of other people. It is not a good feeling to see this girl behave this way. I pity her. I say things in a sarcastic manner or with jokes, because that is a part of my personality. BTW, are you Greek? Do you even know proper protocol yourself? If you are not Greek, what can you really say about how I am handling this situation. This girl is trying to live the life that other Greeks and I live. She's not trying to live amongst you GDIs too much longer. So allow me, other Greeks, and knowlegable GDIs to respond accordingly.

Ummm.. greeks who are on this page.. I REALLY think that y'all should make a stickie out of the "SO you wanna join a frat" thread or at least start one that says "B4 you post, READ THIS".... at least give some ground rules.. that way, it would be the first thing that newbies see when they come to the forum.. that way, if there isn't already an answer to their question, they can find a means of obtaining that answer w/o offending/insulting your organization..... Pepsi was right when she said that not e'rybody knows (although I believe that e'rybody should learn the hard way, and if they don't get dissuaded by the responses, then perhaps they should pursue Greek Life) but on the same token, if they are able to read the responses to their thread, then they should be able to read other threads.... A lot of stuff just requires deeper digging... so.. that is my 2 cents, and have a nice day... btw, Pepsi.. they'd be just as **** them if they made a dumb post on the other forums.. it's just that there are fewer people on this forum so it is hecka concentrated
