Before anything can I please say DON'T BE MEAN TO ME!! I'm just trying to find some stuff out, yes I'm type young, and yes I am still in High School. I'm looking at schools and whatnot right now, still haven't really narrowed down a list but I'd love to go to an HBU. Since I knew what a soro was I always wanted to join one when I got to college. As I got older and started finding out some of the names, and a little (very little i'm sorry to say) more about them I'm like "How is a girl supposed to chose?" I don't have like family to ask because I'll be the first in my family to attend an actual university. Its hard to find out honest information because (NO OFFENSE!!!) most of the sites I've been to don't really tell you what the organization is about. And what they do tell is of course one sided because they want people to join. The only person I've been able to ask is my step teacher at this college bound program I go to at St.John's University (she's a Zeta) but we never really had time to sit down and talk about it.
SOOOO what I'm asking for are some honest answers as to what most soro's are about or a link to a site that will actually tell me what they're about. Whatever info yall can give me would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.
Once again THERE IS NO NEED FOR RUDE COMMENTS OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, I'M JUST ASKING A QUESTION
^^^^ Well... part of the QUEST for greekdom is finding your own information... Although that is a very easy request to grant, you are really asking for our opinions on each group.. If you were asking what each group does, I'd tell you to go the websites for each org (SCROLL UP) and read it for yourself.. Although I could tell you what the groups do, you might not be able to apply it to your area or how YOU see them, so the second thing I would suggest to you is to visit your intended skool (HU) on a Friday (when all of the greeks are out to play) and observe some of their mannerisms... 3 of the 4 were founded at Howard (As a HU student, this is good history to know)...
No one can tell you which org is right for you except for YOU... you shouldn't rush for an org if your heart isn't completely in it.. PM me if you need any help sorting out the info that you got from your research....
Greek Life @ HU (and basically everywhere) can look overwhelming and it is best if you come prepared........
Finding history is only the beginning of researching orgs. I think a complete search can't be done till you get to college. You have to go to events, mix and mingle, talk with some of the members to see if its really an org for you...will you really find brother/sisterhood amongst members. Going off of pure history and opinions doesn't help much...well atleast not for me.

Good point... research is a process (no pun intended) that consists of more than reading printed and electronic texts (you to find as much as you can). It takes some work but if you have theBURNINGdesirein your heart... , I think that you'll be willing to do whatever it takes... 8)
