Hampton or Howard ... I can't decide Posted on 01-03-2004
Southern_Beauty

I REALLY want to go to either Hampton or Howard, but I have to get at least full tuition and fees. I got a 1260 on the SAT1, a 28 (29 if you take my best score), 610 on the SATII Writing, 630 on the SATII chemistry, 680 on the SATII math1c, and a 4.26 GPA. Can someone PLEASE tell me how much scholarship I'm eligible for. I've applied to Hampton already and I'm getting ready to send off my Howard application.

Your SAT score will qualify you to recieve Tuition and Fees at Howard and possibility Room. They've recently changed scholarship requirements. But you should visit the website for more information. www.howard.edu

From the looks of things, you seem very intelligent. This is my first year at Howard, and I must say it has great academic programs, to go along with its great legacy. On the other hand, Hampton has no legacy. Howard has a great pre-med program, to go along with the Howard University Hospital. Hampton has no Hospital,(It's okay pirates MAYBE someday your school will be able to build one). In terms of receiving a scholorship, you will definetly receive some money, how much? I don't know. Contact the school and complete the scholorship essay. Hope to see you at the Mecca next year. Congratulations on your astounding accomplishments. Reppin' Class of 07 Carver Hall !!!!

Look these up at Howard.edu b/c you are eligible for them....Capstone scholarship, hilltop scholarship, founders schalarship. I have a founders scholarship, and it covers room, board, tuition, fees, some book money. I'm sure they cahnged them all a bit, but still check them out, they are under "freshman scholarships". they rank the type of scholarship you'r eeligible for by your SAT and Act score.

Go to Hampton. You're going to get a free ride without a doubt. Plus it is probably the most beautiful campus out of all the HBCU's. Personally, I would go to a "so-called white school with those scores", but trust me you should definitely rock the blue and white.

she will get a full ride to howard as well, but your gpa right now is a 4.2, the thing is howard doesnt count that as your true gpa, basically it has to be an unweighted gpa, most to just about every college does it that way...so you have to know what your gpa is unweighted before you can know for sure what youll get..if you dont know what an unweighted gpa its a gpa on a 4.0 scale, a=4 b=3 and so on...
