.... if you could go back in time to when you were applying to college or as a sophmore or beginning year of 11th grade... what do you wish people had told you to do in order to make the process of applying to college a lot smoother?
I'm a senior too, but I gotta say, visit. Visiting makes everything so much easier -- you aren't stuck reading viewbooks and looking at the website, you see the real thing, and it makes it a lot better and easier to decide. Also, if you meet some alumni, ask about the school, but don't be heavily swayed by what a few say.
And to echo what Huntk said, I know way too many people who were telling me in November that they hadn't taken the SAT yet. Not even once. Come on. The next date is December and most college deadlines fall in January/February...that doesn't give you much time to take it again if you do badly...
^^^Early action is when you apply to a school or two in November-January and you know your decision within a month or two. You're not required to attend that school, you just know your decision from that school early than if u applied regular decision. Just make sure your junior year is on point because colleges use those grades and activites, etc. for early action/decision
Early decision is different you can only apply 2 one school and if u get accepted you have to attend that school and withdraw your applications from other schools.
I like early action better, but y don't i know whether or not i'll be at Howard if i was supposed to know my decision a month ago :?
Apply for scholarships NOW and make sure you take the classes not only to get you graduated from your school, but also into the schools you are applying to.
My advice for high school students is to do sh*t early. I mean as soon as possible. Try to get as many scholarships as you can, and make sure that you save up money(cuz you gonna need it). Keep your grades up and dont f*ck up, cuz it will come back to hurt you.
