They come over here and they steal our culture just as much as the white people. They on welfare just as much as we are and they get really just as much respect. Was I the only one that was kind of thrown off by the welfare comment. What does them being on welfare just as much as black people have to do with them stealing our culture? I would think that you would not want to associate welfare with only Black people. Another thing is there is already enough seperation between blacks and other cultures in this nation, and this is just adding to the seperation.
I too, come from a neighborhood that is prodominantly spanish, and for a long time I was cool with the whole idea. I felt that they shared my same struggle, and that "the man" was stepping on their necks just as much as mine. But lately, things have been changing. It seems to me, as if they are getting preference over me when it comes to scholarships, grants, job openings ect.; it's like all of a sudden, they're the "new" minority....and what are we? These differences are what makes me upset at the state of our nation today. As for spanish people saying the word "*****", "******" or any derivation of it, that sh!t isn't cool. My best friend is boricua till the day she dies, and in fifth grade she tried using out her new slang word for black people, and trust she got checked quickfast. Now that's my homie for life, but their are some things that are just over the line, and she gets that.

wow! you are definitely concerned... lots of issues you just raised.
I'd say first of all, don't fall into the trap of america having you think there is a competition between blacks and hispanics. many of the hispanics are just as "BLACK" as we are (being a mix of european, african, and sometimes indian)... Many of the hispanics coming here are from the caribbean and south america, and are plenty black if you ask me, and the last thing we want to do is be competing with them. We should be embracing each others culture and striving forward together. As for the non-black hispanics, pretty much the same. We should be trying to respect each others culture and move forward rather than compete. There is no competition between who can be on welfare the most (i hope) so that shouldnt be a concern...
we should continue to strive to be educated and to own our own businesses and build within our communities (not just physically but mentally). If we take care of ourselves, the rest will fall into place.
I think puerto ricans and dominicans need to be educated, that here in america, most of them are ultimately just as black as we are in the context of this country. These stories I'm reading about hispanics hating on blacks is crazy, but it appears to me to be a lack of education and falling in to a trap where the darker you are the more hated you are (over here).

I just read your entire post, and it seems you are pretty much filled with hate for folks with hispanic bloodlines. What you described that happened in cuba, dominican republic, and puerto rico is essentially the same thing that happened in the united states, jamaica and other english speaking western countries. The ONLY difference is the white blood line is spanish vs. brittish or english.
Also don't confuse me as trying to be any kind of spokesperson for the hispanic race or even for my own race. The fact is, you have some hispanics that do tend to think they are not at all black, and some that understand our similar african ancestry and recognize that they too are what is commonly referred to as "black"...

It seems you had some really bad experiences with some hispanic people so you are making the mistake of generalizing those bad feelings against the entire dominican, puerto rican, and cuban races. I've been to puerto rico and dominican republic on numerous occassions, and in the dominican republic most people are probably more african than we are from a culture perspective, and they showed me and my family much love. So no, i'm not buying into this hate the hispanics crap, and yes I feel that they are of african descent and they are my brothers and sisters. If they dont believe that its ok with me, but I know plenty of them that do and we get along great. You are also not mentioning that a massive amount of african MALES were brought over in the **** trade to the hispanic caribbean, and that MANY of the people alive NOW from these countries have PATERNAL african ancestry.
