Hair vs. Weather Posted on 10-20-2004

Ladies... How will the styling of your hair be affected by the changing of the weather (cold and/or wet)? Will you go for braids, perm, press, natural, or what? Do you stop caring and put that scarf/beanie/bandana on and go on about your business? How does the weather affect the way you wear your hair? I'm debating as to whether or not I should try to maintain a perm during the cold season or go towards braids (which I do not like due to the fact that I don't know how to take care of them). Speak On It...

My hair is permed. When Its raining or humid I put it in a bun to keep the ends frizzless. Other then that I just wear it down. I do however wear a beanie in the snow.

its so freaking HUMID down here...and the weather changes constanly...it can be sunny and hot when you wake up...[shorts wearing weather] and then just have a downpour of rain with no notice. i don't even curl my hair anymore...i just go...and right now i'm just wearing it in a doorag...ya know wrapped up...waiting to get some braids...and later get it relaxed...we'll see..

I think maybe I am the only one on here who doesnt let the weather determine my hairstyle...most of the time its because of 2 factors:  how i am feeling and what the occasion is & how my hair is...like if i need a perm and its going to be a while before i get one..because i can't go home then its a instant ponytail/bun But that's just me...i live in Ga and half the time you can't determine the weather I mean it could be hot in October or November so its day to day for me.

Yep . I heard dat. When it was drizzlin the otha day, chicks were runnin like crazy with their umbrellas. I was the only one like..."YES! Moisture! bring it on baby". Weather had my puff puff lookin all glossy and what not. *singin in high pitch voice* "Just let your soul glow! Just let your sooouuuuul glooooow!" but i do plan on straightening it for homecoming next week. So in this case, i will be the chick sportin the hats and runnin like a mad woman with an umbrella if even the SLIGHT drippity drop falls out the sky. My hair will convert to a fro faster than lightening

ive been thinking abuot straightening mine before i go home for x-mas to suprise my mom about my hair length...only for a short while though, because if i straightened it, its hecka LOONNGGGG, and people's hair in my family grows long anyways...but then im scared of the result, because in the past my hair has been hard to straighten(hot comb, flat iron), but thats when i used perms and my hair was damaged, so we'll see how that situation goes

Aw, that'll be cool Shoya. Don't trip, i think all hair is pressable. U just gotta find somebody that knows how to throw down with a hot comb. Cuz most of these beauticians out here are used to doin permed hair, so they can't get natural hair as straight as should be or that'll last longer than a day. So this year i brought my own combs and irons from home and i'm gonna do it myself. Yep, imma be that ghetto chick in the annex kitchin usin the stove top. Peeps on my floor gonna be like *sniff sniff* "who's cookin hair?"
