I FORGOT THAT I AM IN THE SOUTH, SO I HAVE DEAL WITH SOME OF THIS STUFF.
No the hell you DONT! It doesn't matter where you are: this is not the 1950's and we dont have to take that ****anymore.
This is true, it's actually improved in the South. Racism ain't that bad in TX. That's one of the reasons why a lot of Blacks are moving back down here. To me, racism is equally everywhere now.
i've never been called a **** to my face but i've seen it in people's eyes when i'm wit a group of friends and we're getting a little rowdy. the worst incident was probably when i was in third grade and my best friend's mom told me that she didn't want her daughter playing with a lil black girl no more.
to prove some of ya'll right and wrong at the same time about the north. i come from seattle, washington. there is racism up there but only in the small towns not so much occurs in the big cities. Interacial dating is EVERYWHERE YOU GO. white girls love them some black men... even in the small towns that are full of racists.
on to the story:
i lived in a small town with maybe like 2 black families and 2 mixed families. i was at school skating party when i was i nthe 2nd grade and this boy skated up to my and told me that i came from n*gger land. i didnt think anything of it because that was really the first time i had had that word said around me. told my parent, they called my school. ireally dont remember what his punishment was
I go to a high school in Texas that is about %1.3 black and the rest are all white. Im not saying I don't like whites because I really do and some of my good friends are white but it is hard. I'll give you an example. I'm in the band and its 9 blacks in the band with me. We went to contest and it was about 3 hours away. How about our band director told us blacks to meet him when it was over at the bus and we get out there and another school told us our bus left about a hour ago. ALL the black kids got left over 3 hours away from home. No one can tell me they didn't notice all the blacks were not there. Luckly that school is about 15 mins from ours and told us we could ride with them and they would contact all our parents on the way home. Thats just one example I can give you them for days. Its reall **** the real thats why I want to go to a hbcu so bad. Not because I'm tired of being around white people its more because its time I learn how to be black. I mean yea I'm black but everthing I know a white person taught me. I'm just ready for a change. I have been wanting to go to a hbcu sense Jr. High.
