I heard on the radio that a HBCU has that much white people attending their school. They are getting scholarships to attend. Do you think they are just taking advantage of us? I bet if it was blacks tring to attend a school that was founded by whites they would no let us out number them .
Those two are majority white, and I believe Langston of OK is majority white as well.
Myth. Langston University is less than thirty percent white, with the majority of this population being professionals at night school attending the Oklahoma City and Tulsa campuses. The white presence on the main campus is minimal, but does appear to be rising in recent years.
And to address the original post as a White student on a full scholarship at an HBCU, finances do play a role. I applied to five different institutions, and went on visits and was the most impressed by Langston for both my major and the campus living arrangements, and the offer of a full scholarship did not hurt. The scholarship is available to ALL students who scored a 22 on the ACT and a 3.5 GPA in high school. In addition to this, I did apply for the "diversity scholarship" that does pay 300 dollars a semester. The money for Hispanics/Latinos/Chicanos, I believe is slightly higher than the diversity scholarship. I don't see it convincing many people to attend as that will not even cover the price of books.
