Trying to Change them.... Posted on 02-07-2005
In Rod We Trust

Ok I have a question.....it just sorta came to me... Back in highschool it was this boy...who was FINE as all get out. BUT 1. he never kept a fresh hair cut....2. His clothes were.....well shot to hell....3. He never wore any type of colonge.... I always use to make the comment " Give me 200 dollars and I'll have him looking like he's never looked before"... But you know...you could see the cuteness undeneath all of those uhhh material flaws. So I was wondering..Is it wrong to try and change the way someone appears...even if it's for the better?? He had no sense of dressing or nothing like that.... Or...should you leave him/her the way they are...because I mean hey ur suppose to like this person for his/her personality right?? We all seem to think that fashion and all that doesnt play a role in how we pick our mate...but I personally think that only matters if you have no fashion urself.... So is it wrong...to try and..."change" your mate..for the better?

I'll let him dress in whateva he wants. If we're in the mall or i see something cute, i might say "wow...that would look really cute on u sweety" or "ooo...i could see u rockin that", but it's all about him being comfortable. Cuz i SURELY don't want a dude tryna influence my style and what i wear. "Kenya, u should get a perm, i don't like your hair natural" , "Kenya, you should show off your figure more. Ya know, a lil more cleave &...", "Why don't u ever wear skirts or dresses?". I wear what i wear becuz i am comfortable in it & it's a reflection of who i am. If a negro doesn't like it, then he doesn't like me:arrow:
Well, this is the way I see it. If you really have feelings for someone, you wouldn't care how they dress. It is superficial to try to "improve" someone by material things. Styles and dress are temporary, but love should be forever. I get tired of women trying to change the outward appearance of men and not looking at the inward attitudes or makeup of the person. No wonder people get into the wrong relationships, falling for people because they look good, got the nicest fashions, and have the freshest kicks. I'll add this though, you don't want them to make you look bad in public. However, if you truly love them, you'll tell your "friends" "fukk you." and keep rolling.

Kenya you're fine like you are. I love it if a woman would wear her hair natural or dress more discreet. It leaves more to the imagination. I mean, if a woman always show off her figure, we already have a picture of how she may look in the bed.

Like I said earlier you don't want the person make you look bad in public because of what people may say. Screw that, I'm tired of what people say. Sh!t, the rainbow might be the style tommorow with holes in the back pocket. Also, I don't know many ladies that carry themself that way. What I'm trying to emphasize is that no one should try to change another person. That makes them resist it harder. You can influence them to conform to your style, but not change them on selfish means.

I feel you on that completely...but I do hear where Tip coming from...cause we all know that guy/girl who looks good but with a lil fashion direction they would be the shyt...I guess how I feel is I would make small suggestions here and there...and if they are open to them then really start pushing it....but if they are comfortable in what they wear and dont wanna change...i cant get mad at them for it cause I knew that that is how they liked to dress when I first started talkin to them/ got with them...whatever...so I would push the who fashion thing on them slightly if they were open to it...if they arent then I can only deal with it.
