Drew Bledsoe set passing records and reached the Super Bowl as a young quarterback playing for Bill Parcells in New England. Nearly a decade later, the duo will try doing it again with the Dallas Cowboys.
Bledsoe takes over in Big D
Drew Bledsoe is officially introduced as the new quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys.
Bledsoe was to be introduced at a 3 p.m. news conference at team headquarters Wednesday afternoon, one day after he was released by the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills told Bledsoe he would be cut last week and he said then that "Dallas is intriguing for obvious reasons." Once Parcells was interested, too, the 33-year-old apparently chose not to seriously pursue other starting jobs.
Parcells was running the Patriots when he made Bledsoe the No. 1 overall pick in 1993. They reached the Super Bowl following the 1996 season, losing to Green Bay, then Parcells left for the New York Jets.
Over their four seasons together, Bledsoe set several NFL records for attempts and completions and threw for more than 4,000 yards twice.
Bledsoe's career has risen and fallen several times since then.
An injury cost him his starting job in New England in 2001, and the emergence of Tom Brady prevented him from getting it back. He was traded to Buffalo, where he immediately made the Pro Bowl with another 4,000-yard season but failed to reach the playoffs all three seasons with the Bills, going 23-25 overall.
Last season, Bledsoe helped Buffalo go from 0-4 to 9-6 going into the finale with a chance to make the postseason. However, the emergence of running back Willis McGahee also was a big part of the team's turnaround.

Bledsoe, who hasn't started a playoff game since 1998, still has a strong arm, but has been sacked 140 times in the last three seasons. That's also a tribute to his durability - he's started every game in those years.
His arrival means that 41-year-old Vinny Testaverde won't be re-signed and that young quarterbacks Drew Henson and Tony Romo won't be seeing much action any time soon. Bledsoe made it clear last week that he wasn't interested in being a backup and Parcells has shown little willingness to go through the growing pains of grooming a young QB.
By avoiding a Henson-led rebuilding, the Cowboys are trying to quickly rebound after going 6-10 last season. Parcells is 63 and often says he's too old to lose. He also has two seasons left on his contract.
Parcells makes no secret of his affinity for his former players, believing he can trust them more. His collection in Dallas already included receivers Keyshawn Johnson and Terry Glenn and running back Richie Anderson. Glenn played with Bledsoe from 1996-2001 in New England.
In addition to those veterans, the Cowboys believe they have rising stars in running back Julius Jones and tight end Jason Witten.
Jones was drafted with a pick Dallas acquired from Buffalo in a draft-day trade. The Bills got the Cowboys' first-round pick and used it on quarterback J.P. Losman, whose development forced Bledsoe out of Buffalo. As part of that trade, Dallas gets Buffalo's first-rounder this year, which would've been higher than No. 20 without Bledsoe's second-half turnaround.
boulware realeased????
common jacksonville! get a good freee agent for once...smh...it seems to me no one wants to play for a trasm like jacksonville...i just found out fred taylor only makes like 1.8 million a year...smh we give like the poorest salaries man :-( 8-) (evy)
I think boulware still has a lil somethin left in him. Somebody switching to a 3-4 scheme (dallas, buffalo) could pick him up cause that's where he plays his best ball at. About dan cody replacing him I don't know about that at all. I see DE's comin in the league to play a 3-4 linebacker, but I know it's not many that's capable of comin in and play outside lb in the 4-3 like that. Pollack is doing that but he's an exception for the fact that this man is a straight up beast. But not dan cody, he's a 7-10 sack DE at best. I don't think mcnabb a get kobe and shaq tho. It's too many players out there and TO has knows the deal cause his production relys on mcnabb's arm. I personally think reggie brown will be a +1000 yard reciever in a couple years so if TO continues to get out of hand over the years the eagles can do like the vikes did with moss and dump him. No matter how good you are, when you have a great QB your expendable. All in all TO knows the deal and hes really doesn't have any complaints. I mean if you gotta qb that can get the ball to you while his in near mid air going out of bounds then all you can do is be satisfied.
I am really looking for the Vikings to make some noise this year. Yea they got rid of Moss, but Nate Burleson and Marcus Robertson had a majority of their catches last year anyway, and we all know Moss is a distraction. Not to mention all of the upgrades on D, which they needed the most.
Yea the vikes really don't lose anything from that moss trade. They now have the second best (behind the jags) pass rushing, probaly all around, defensive line in the league. Out of marcus robinson, nate burlson, kelly campbell, troy williamson, and travis taylor, one of them will have a break thru year. They all got the potential to do so, especially when daunte culpepper is at QB. I say if they stay healthy, they can get up to par with the eagles in the NFC. With their personnel on defense, the falcons would get shook barring vick's development.
Moss is gonna have a good year but just for the fact that the offense has weapons like it does he's not gonna be a big stand out statistically. Jerry porter is gonna snap off just because of the double teams moss is gonna draw. But overall, I might of said it before, I believe that the raiders will be at the most 8-8. Their defense is make shift and overall trash, their roster still has a lot of old cats, and bottom line, offense doesn't win championships. The raiders dug themselves in a hole acquiring all the offensive players like they did then actually trading away a young corner (phil buchanon) with some good upside. Warren Sapp is not only old with deteriorating skills, but he's playing in a new scheme that he doesn't fit in. The only other name on their defense is charles woodson and I'm sure that he doesn't want to be there.
Anyway, who thinks this is Vick's year? I'm hopin it is. He's just like mcnabb, culpepper, and mcnair was except it's harder for him because he can rely on running a lot more. I think he'll learn though cause they spending big money to surround him with weapons.
eveyrbody sleeping on the cards...
new uniforms...new stadium next year....it's gonna have the same effect as the titans...not to mention kurt...kurt coming back, dammit! 8-) (evy)
