Just from the things I know aboutmy moms side of the fam and what my maternal grandmother has told me, Her roots trace back to some slaves and Blackfoot Native Americans... My great grandfather ( my grandmother's dad....OBVIOUSLY ) was a full blooded Blackfoot and my greatgrandmother was a regular black woman and I believe my great great great grandmother was a ****...I think I got the generations right.
As far as my maternal grandfather...all of his people are white...I dont know exactly...but everybody is lite skinned with gray eyes and got a white grandmother or grandfather in just about every generation. But my grandfather is a black man who looks mixed cause he is so lite with gray eyes. I believe he is 3/4 black 1/4 white.
As far as my dads family...I dont know sh*t about them cause his mom died b4 I was born and couldnt tell me nothin...and I never knew my grandfather. All I know is that my paternal grandmother was multiracial...she was black, french, puerto rican, and cherokee indian. While my grandfather was just black. I have a lot of Puerto Rican blood in me on my dads side cause I have alot of half puerto rican cousins and whatnot...
All I know is that Ima n*gga just like everybody else.
my aunt in cali did an ancestors dna test and found out that from my grandmothers side of the family, we are from the Mende and Temne tribe in the Sierra Leone and the Kru tribe in Liberia.

Well my families from the West Indies so we can trace our roots back through the industry of sugarcane, black slaves with british, french and danish ties. we primarily associate with our british ancestry but I think its cool that my great -grandmothers name was poudreaux . It be interesting to trace my family lines before we got to the islands though.
I know that my paternal grandfather was 1/8th black and 7/8ths Irish. My great-great grandfather migrated with his family to America due to the potato famine in Ireland. He had my great-grandfather with my great-great grandmother who was a black.
But my great-grandfather stayed with my great-great grandfather in Oxford, Mississippi. My great-grandfather didn't look a bit black, or mixed, so no one really knew he was black.
They owned a shoe shop and were close with the famous write, William Faulkner. He writes about my family in one of his books. My great-grandfather met my great-grandmother, Me-mommie.
She was also Irish and they had my grandfather, Papa.
My maternal grandmother's mother, my great-grandmother named Cootney, was Choctaw and from Oklahoma. Hmmmmmmmmmmm... I don't feel like going in depth again.

Our family historian on my mom's side traced us back to somewhere in West Africa. She found out the men's names who started our family. My mom's side's last name is of Scottish origin. :evil: They were slaves in North Carolina, and I actually have copies of the papers they used when they sold my ancestors. I guess, the "**** papers". I used them for a project in history about my background. She found those somewhere in North Carolina.
I only know that I have Cherokee indian on my dad's side. Supposedly, my great grandmother was sooo pale. I never met her though. They haven't really done much research on exactly who started the family or whatever.
