aight, all this talk admissions has been giving me about having a full scholarship to FAMu.....
I applied to the university the first week of January. On January 22, i received correspondence that i was eligible for a full ride, and would b sent certification within 3 weeks to sign whether or not i accepted the award. Its now March 15, and I have yet to receive an acceptance letter OR a certification for my scholarship.
So i try to call the university and see whats up. I've been calling Office of Admissions for 2 1/2 SKRAIT WEEKS and get a busy sig each time. I called Recruitment n Scholarships, and get told that the computer system was down in the office, and there are stacks and stacks of applications not even LOOKED THROUGH yet, and there was a good chance mine could b in that stack. She couldn't even find the certification for my scholarship in HER files. I try to FAX this ho somethin, and she gave me the WRONG NUMBER!
So finally i get in touch with the music Dept. and explain my dilemma to this work-study chick. She's like, "Don't worry about it, my freshman year I applied in December and didn't get accepted til June."
I don't want to put down hundreds in deposit fees at other schools f i don't even know where i stand with THIS one, my FIRST CHOICE, the FIRST school i applied to!!!!!!! how i get offered a scholarship if they don't even know if i'm accepted yet?
makin me wonder do i realllllly wanna go here......
did anyone else have to deal with screwups like this?

The exact same thing happened to me. I received a letter from FAMU in February offering me a full scholarship, BUT I hadn't even applied there. I hadn't really even considered FAMU.
Univ. of Maryland was my first choice. But because they were offering me a scholarship, I APPLIED THE NEXT DAY. I visited and everything, but I didn't find out if I was officially accepted til about April.
YOU ARE ACCEPTED. Believe me. If they offer you a scholarship they are not going to reject you applicatiom (That is unless you have some skeletons in your closet.)
Don't worry. I KNOW first hand how frustrating it can be dealing with some of FAMUs employees. BUT BE HAPPY because they are making a lot of changes... a lot employees are being let go right now.
shiii...I guess I'll be sending my applications in to my choices in like...October this fall lol...
Haha.. ... And you would think the earlier you send in your application, the earlier you would get a response. NOT TRUE!
What Nahd says is true about accepting it or not. BUT WHY ARE WE FORCED TO ACCEPT WHEN WE ARE WHAT KEEPS THESE BUSINESSES RUNNING? I think they just need to get their sh*t together. The lack of organization is what is stunting the success of most black institutions (as well as employing some people who are inept beyond belief).
