Who wants to be an HBCU Cheerleader???? Posted on 05-07-2005

Ms.WSSU09'
charlotte, NC
I plan to cheer for WSSU in the fall. I think that they are the best in the CIAA and they just don't have anyone on Varsity because they have a JV team as well. Though it also gives those of us who need a little cheering maturing to get that before being on Varsity. I have been cheering for 12 yrs. Both sideline and competition. Though in high school we weren't to "BLACK" until my senior year and thats when the squad was led by black girls and we got a little soul and now i can't wait to do my thing at WSSU. so rep your school and how long you have been doing your thing and what type of cheerleading you have been into!

hmmm anyway...I've been a cheerleader for only 4 years but I've discovered it's my talent and I definitely want to do it when I get to college. I just need to work on my tumbling skill alil more. But since I'm '06 I'm still not even sure of where I'll be cheering.

Basically everyone who cheers in college has most likely had other cheer experience and don't really need to condition or anything just stretch and find out what that particular squad style is.

That's not always true. There were a few Morgan State Cheerleaders who had never cheered before. Actually one ran track throughout HS.
