I just got done watching Dr. Phil...which is rare, but newho, i found the topic kind of interesting. It was about this secret polygamy society in Colorado City. They are the very extreme of conservative and believe many of the traditions that they follow and beliefs that they hold are through the will of God. One woman was married to a man that has 15 wives. Most of them on average have about 6 children with him. That's about 90 children ya'll . The wife was very content with the situation and says that she loves her family (yeah...all 200 of dem peeps). Ya'll can call that polygamy if u want...but it sounds like PIMPIN to me.
Then there are the "lost" ones. Those are children/teenagers that managed to escape out of the society and start new lives for themselves. Two teenage girls had to re-educate themselves because their education level stopped at elementry school. They were used to be very submissive and always doing for others. Not to mention they are quite timid and fearful of guys. One of the girls stated "I really don't want to be bothered with boys right now. I think they are one of the most stressful things on the planet". Now that was one of the realest statements i heard throughtout the whole show
And guys...don't think you're left out of the loop either. A few of the young guys "escaped" as well. One boy ran away at the age of 14 with nothing but the clothes on his back. He was not allowed to play any sports becuz it was seen as "prideful". One guy was kicked out at the age of 18 because he kissed a girl that he was in love with.
I'm not one to knock the religion of others...to each his own. But like i said...i know pimpin when i see it
seems like a **** to me, but those females are ignorant cause i be damned if i share my husband with anyone
but thats the thing...its more than them being a " ignorant female. " They are born into a society where this where they are taught that this is right. They are taught to believe that if they dont live this lifestyle they will burn in hell...so unfortunately...they have been brainwashed into believing this.
Who's to say they are wrong for polygamy and we are right for monagamy?
There are not rights and no wrongs, just differences in opinions.
Unfortunately for them, I differ heavily.

when u said that the first thing i thought of is when she said the boy got kicked out for kissing a girl he loved....i dunno bout YOU but something dont seem right..point blank.
i mean i feel that if someone personally feels this is the way to live then fine, but IF they are being forced to live this way then yes, i feel it is wrong.

Exactly. Like with one of the teenage girls that ran away. One of her brothers keeps calling her and telling her that she is going to go to Hell for leaving them and not following the doctrines. She is just now learning how to think for herself and be her own human being. So yes, alot of these women are ignorant. But not ignorant by choice. This is the lifestyle that they were born into. And they are not allowed to watch tv, listen to the radio, or go the movies, so many of them don't know that there is
another option out there, or that what is going on is out of the norm.
Like i said, i'm not knocking their religion. To each his own. But anything that u have to "escape" from or get "kicked out of"...something is wrong.
Well for me there is a right and wrong. I am a Christian and my religion teach's against it. So yeah, they wrong
Not necessarily . . . the old testament, and the new testament to a lesser extent is supportive of polygamy. That's why the Mormons support that concept.
Case in point: David had six wives and Solomon had over 700 wives (2 Samuel and Kings I); Jacob had Rebecca and Leah; Abraham had Sarah, and Keturah. . with Haggai as his concubine.
Deutoronomy clearly states how a man who has two wives should react towards his sons by those two wives if he hates one wife and loves another. If the son of the hated wife is the first-born, he CANNOT ignore him to honor the second son, since the first son deserves double the inheritance.
Since Jesus himself: "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law (the Old Testament) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (the Old Testament) until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:17-18)"
Old Testament Law also allowed a man to take his brother's widow if she dies without children. The Sadducees referenced it in three of the four gospels when they extended that hypothetical situation to Jesus about seven brothers who die consecutively til the last, and asked who the wife would be married to in heaven. Jesus replied with ; there will be no marriages in heaven; we will be like the angels. He did not refute marrying the widow, nor did he consider that the other brother might already be married.
Monogamy is a European social concept, which is not supported by many world cultures. It was adopted by the Roman Catholic Church. Romans were a monogamous culture; they viewed that as a way to honor their women and the goddess's from whom the Roman woman culled their spirit and grace.
Do I support polygamy? No. One woman is enough nagging for me. Would it cut down on a lot of cheating that goes on in America? Yes; but it'd never be supported by today's feminist woman. Is it against Christianity? It's against the social constructs of Christianity, but not against the spiritual or religious constructs.
Look it up.
Anway, like i said before. It's flat out wrong. People seem to take scriptures from the bible to try and justify wrong doing. Just because someone in the bible may have had several wives doesnt make it right. Plain ans simple... It's not of God. *rolls eyes*

You all need to look outside the box.. :???:
Monogamy is popular within the United States but Polygamy is practiced by more people around the world.
I have a problem with people creating their own religions. What you believe is what you believe but do not claim religious principles to justify it.
That's exactly what people do.
