WHATS REALLY GOOD!
What happened ya'll...? Is it our fault... or failure in our parents and their parents to properly pass the baton on to us? There was never a time in the history of our people in this country where the opportunity for us to change things has been so great.
First of all, I think that it's our parents' fault partly for educating us about the hardships and the history of our people. How can progress be made if you don't even know the situation? Too many Blacks are ignorant about their own history, which is why I'm glad that Philly is requiring high school students there to take an African American history class. Hopefully other cities will soon follow suit.
As for me, I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone. I know that Blacks still have MUCH work to do, in acheiving the dreams and visions of King and Malcolm X. It's why I'm at a PWI...they fought for tha right for me, an African American female, to attend, and to acheive TRUE diversity, why not? Besides I'm getting an education, cheaper than at some of the HBCUs. So in that way, I'm doing my part. I'm also going to try and educate my peers on black history and somehow they can do their part to keep the dream alive as well.
