I know we've discussed this topic a couple times, but having seen it discussed in the news more and more recently I wanted to see what you all thought about it. Several companies, including Wachovia and JP Morgan, have recently owned up to their active roles in slavery and have issued apologies. Do you think African Americans/people of African decent should receive reparations for slavery/lynchings? If you do, what form do you think reparations should come in? And if you don't think they should get reparations, why is that?
I'll be back with my thoughts later...
Back to the topic at point.
Reparations should be given in the form as someone stated earlier, as public projects. Hire jobless people to do work on public projects, and not only will that look good on a resume for further advancement in the job market, but it would also increase the per capita income of the nation and in turn mark a boost in an fiscal structure via economical socialism. Somewhat.

^^^ That is exactly why I think that reparations should be given but not as a check to every African American. People wouldn't know what to do with it and they'd be right back where they started. The money should be put into educational and housing programs for Blacks as well as into Black businesses in the form of grants. Other groups done wrong by the U.S. government have recieved reparations, why not Blacks?
