Digging Deeper Posted on 07-07-2005

How deep does the rabbit whole really go... *note: this post is for people who are already members of Fraternities, Sororities, Freemasonry, OES, etc. I can't say the uninitiated can't put their 2 cents in but i'm not sure if there is anything that you can offer from the outside looking in however if you do have something offer please think before you speak. Well, after askign the right questions and the right people I've had the pleasure of being enlightened to what some of the more deeper meanings are of certain things within my fraternity. I know during and post rit many of the "whats" in regards to things significant to my org were revealed however, the "whys" were just skimmed on the surface. As a neo I didn't know any better and never really took the initiative to look deeper but as I matured in my org I began to notice different things and eventually began my quest to explain the "whys" that were left kind of open post-rit. The things that i discovered would end up blowing my mind and even increasing the deep respect that i already had for my org. I just wanted to know has anybody else in their respective organization attempted to or ever thought about looking into the things taught to them even further? I actually know quite a few people of various orgs who are hesitant to do so or cats who could care less about these things. Where do you stand?

Being almost 4 months old in my organization...Ima baby that knows NOTHING as far as im concerned...Joing the Order has been such a great experience with the women I have met and who know SOOO much and can offer so much of their knowledge to us baby Stars...masonry has information that will take you years to really know, learn and understand ( not exaggerating ). And in realizing that I know my quest for complete enlightment and knowing " everything " associated with freemasonry will never come cause there is sooooo much information, history, and rituals inside the Order...and even in eventually receiving all my degrees in OES...the " learning process has just BARELY " touched the surface...because I can learn of and join organizations that are " masonically affiliated " but not masonic..if that makes sense...for example a there are masonically affiliated organization known as HOUSES such as Daughters of Isys along with a few others. Then to just to learn of some of the background history of all the other Mason and OES affiliations is a learning process in itself...the different affiliations being Prince Hall, Prince Hall Affiliate, Scottish Rite, York Rite, International, etc... it goes on. As far as im concerned I will never know and learn EVERYTHING there is to freemasonry because its so complicated, and because its very detailed and intricate. So, as far as Im concerned, me simply learning about Order of the Eastern Star in my case would be just knowing the " requirements " so to speak. Me digging deeper is EVERYTHING else I named that ties in with the Order and what Freemasony as a WHOLE has to offer.
That is very deep. I've heard that a lot of what Masonry/the Order teaches can be applied to your everyday life also. The whole "make good men better" type stuff. My aunt, who just happens to have been in the Order since 1976 (almost 30 years), asked me if I could name one Mason that I knew who wasn't of good character...and as many as I personally know, I couldn't name one.
