I don't understand this. Are you just dealing with a multitude of Greeks that are dying to claim each other? Yeah, I show love to Alphas as my Phirst Pham, but first and foremost, I joined Alpha Kappa Alpha to be a lady of Alpha Kappa Alpha, not so that I could link myself to another organization.
I don't think anyone's on this forum saying, "I joined Sigma Gamma Rho so that I can be linked in some way to the Kappas." It's just not that serious.

As far as the Erasmian Pronunciation
When the greeks dispersed to other areas after the invasion of the Turks, they introduced their culture to those areas. This continued for centuries and the result was a mix of Latin and Grecian tongues, which is referred to as Byzantine Greek. In the early renaissance period it was decided that western education be based on learning the grecian literary classics.
Erasmus noticed the differences between the spelling of the words in the ancient texts and it's modern pronunciation. He began to champion returning the pronunciation of greek letters to its classical roots, which although slow to catch on, was eventually adopted by the top universities in England and then other parts of Europe.
BUT, Erasmian Pronunciation is the ACADEMIC pronunciation of greek letters. Byzantine Greek (or Modern greek) is very much still being spoken in Greece today. Therefore, the same greek letters we use for our organizations make sense since they were founded on college campuses.
Erasmus later in life denounced his own theory and rarely, if ever actually used it in his own scholarly writing.
