Forced to be paper? Posted on 09-20-2005
GetItRightTheFirstTime

I have known for years which organization I want to be a part of, so I was upset upon my arrival to college to find that they have been suspended from my campus. After over 5 years, they are finally coming back to my school! I was so excited to see that they had posted a meeting flyer. I went to the meeting (close to 400 damn aspirants )Now that they are coming back it looks like the first line will be paper  And I will have graduated by the time the next chance to apply comes around. I'm torn because I was looking forwrd to the whole pledge experience. But I truly do love the organization and would want to be a part of it either way. Would you have applied for your organization if you knew that there would be no line? I'm just intersted in hearing some opinions.

Prince, we are =====>here<===== I understand people may've had good intentions but this person hasn't even been INVITED yet, therefore would know nothing of how the process is conducted, other than hearsay. GetItRight, PM me the org you are interested in and the campus. I will see what I can do to help you :-)

Getitright: First you have to truly ask yourself why you want to be a part of that organization. If you want it to make you or you add to it. I don’t know what you have been told or assume, but Pledging is more than just the a$$ whooping, it’s more mental than anything else. And I will be honest with you, during the time I pledge, going grad or paper (not pledging), or even having a line more that 20, was looked down on (what we call CAT). But times have changed. If you go into an org. not “pledging” and I quote, like others did - that’s all right. It’s all about where your HEART is. If you were willing to go thru whatever it took to be apart of that org., then your heart is in the right place. Now after you are in, how you are accepted/viewed by others and bond with your LS’s – will entirely be up to you. Your personality, desire to know more, do more, “BE OUT” will shape that. Because you could pledge as hard as anybody else, and when you go over, you can still turn out to be luke/cat. And yes, with 100+ LS’s, you won’t be able to bond with all then. Just find that ones that share the same desire and drive as you, and form bonds with them. As far as leading you since no one is on the yard. Find a chapter sister (s) (preferred) and try to learn as much as you can from her (them). Both information and how to “live” it. LS = Line sisters
Thank you for your post. I enjoyed your input! cafe- Your cat is cute!! I miss mine. I thought about sneaking and keeping him at my apartment.

No one can ever force u to join an organization or even a certain chapter. It's all a choice. *sigh* ...but i digress.
