they usually are hesitant to let Phi Mu Alpha and KKPsi step in the shows at the schools down here because of that. (they try and pull some "because we are all musicians its a given that we should be able to step well so it isn't fair" card so they don't let folk compete but showcase us as exhibitions and what not).
What chapter was it btw?
I know down here we have unity day on the strip where PMA, SAI, KKPsi, and TBS in the AUC just post outside of the strip and do stuff include step. Morehouse usually doesn't step outside of a very small part of the probate but the stuff i saw the orgs at CAU do was just crunk as hell.

and the black greeks up north dance more
all the movies and technology doesn't need to be done
nothing beats straight steppin with a lil creativity
and as far as judges go
it's best to have NONgreeks
cuz greeks favor their own org
and it aint hard to judge
I'm against non-greeks. They judge the crowd pop, and not precision, control, showmanship, creativity, etc . . .
All you have to do to negate bias is throw out each teams highest and lowest scores, and have eight or more judges.

And yeah...I know firsthand how Divine 9 is hesitant to include PMA,SAI,KKPsi,&TBS step because when it cam time to decide if they should be included in any step shows people were NOT pleased!!! Personally, I think it'll make things interesting cuz I'm tired of seeing the same ole folks. That's why the spring step show should so interesting w/ 4 extra orgs(not to mention how long it's gonna be :shock.
Yeah.. its usually during the spring outside of CAU's student center. This last one was tight. I had so much fun yo. We definitely were out there wildin out strollin for a hot minute (I wish you could have seen it... we had this crazy lil stroll/hop battle to **** Over Bagdhad(sp) that was just hellified lol. )
(i just realized it was definitely around the time you would have been doing yor thing for Zeta and i think this was the first one out of many... so look for us this spring)
also to Skegee lady... what year was KKPsi in Morehouse's Step Show? Cus they definitely weren't this year and i defintely don't remember either orgs participating, in the previous years (while i was here at least... CAU is a different story i think).
And as for the quality of stepping... you must mean in a good way because the Alpha's and Sigma's at Morehouse here be doing the damn thing during the show. Can't nobody take that away from them.
We dealt with the controversy of Greek or Non Greek judges at our Homecoming show. Yes, sometimes judges may favor their organization, but would a Non Greek really know what to look for (i.e. precision, difficulty, creativity) as much as a Greek? We ended up having a mixed panel of judges but those were definately concerns.

Well in my opinion the GREEKS don't know what to look for (precision, difficulty, creativity, timing.... and whatever else) I guess knowing most of the greeks that are here now before they were greek allowed me to see right through their points for judging the way they did. It was very unfair to the greeks that spent weeks, and months putting on a step other than the ones who got love and put on Bullcrap that they pulled together the night before.... Even the alumni were looking like "what the fu(k was that that my sorors or frat just did....I 'm gonna have to holla at them later. " I guess you had to be there to see it. I was soooooo ****!

I digress... If somebody was to tell me the exact things to look for I would definitely take all into consideration. I wouldn't pay the crowd any mind for real because they probably rooting for their prospective org.... once again their frat and/ sorors, and also for their friends. So it depends on the individual in my opinion. i'm feeling throwing out the highest and lowest scores though.

You've got a good point Focused because even here at my school, the Greeks on the yard aren't as visible and crunk as I've been hearing that they used to be...So going back to ur original post, we do need to step up our game.
I think that its kind of bad when people don't even know that Greeks are on the yard or just a select few at that..I would think that everyone would be glad to be out doing their thing on and off campus...but times have changed.

If yall happened to go to Centrals step show, then yall would have been mad... cause The way people got placed was bullsh*t...
The Iota's got robbed... i dont care what anyones says,(not that im hating on the other frats') but for the Iota's to place Last at home but go to other schools and place first??? hmmm I mean they came in 5th place, after the Ques and the Ques did the same thing at this step show that they did at homecoming last year. only differance.. they had on vest, gloves a tie, you know, they almost looked pretty. Then the Alpha's show was alright, but they had damn near the whole line that crossed last year and half of the line before that on the stage, and you couldnt follow the show.

Well here at Central... the judges were all greek.... It was evenly disbursed.... however one sorority did terrible however they are the most known on campus and they get love from damn near everybody so off top they won basically due to that and not based on their performance. I love them to death because the ones that did step are people that i am cool with and have known since day one... but their step was very unoriginal, boring and not at all unique. They looked like poo. On the other hand the other woman that stepped were more original and unique had a better theme and stuck to it and they were graded based on the respect they get on campus. IMP.
