Thanks so much for posting this information. I went to the website and completed my initial entry submission. Hoping to enter the Washington (my home) state preliminary pageant next year.
KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED.
I definitely can use a scholarship. And obtaining sisters of my calliber, networking, enhancing my personal and humanitarian efforts is where my focus is at. Period.
I don't know what type of people have been posting to this board. But I can only relate to the positive posts that are on here; the ones that actually have a keen purpose, and that make sense. I'm glad there are some intelligent, educated and serious people on this HBCU forum who posted in this particular thread. Count me in that category. Ha!
I forwarded this thread to some friends of mine, as well as to my academic advisor.
I personally encourage members of this forum to check this pageant out. I went to the site and contacted the national office. It's about time african american women and young ladies have a pageant to participate in that provies scholarships and national exposure.
CHECK IT OUT.
Peace
i agree, someone made multiple names. the longeset responses to the post were all in perfect standard english. we don't talk like that on this board!!!
Wow. this pageant is tight. I have supported a few people I know in pageants, though I never competed in one myself. Most of them just take your money, and don't even focus on the actual enhancement of the contestants, let alone the winner! I've even witnessed some scams with winners not receiving their due prizes and exposure. I have never seen one that has an endorsed representation package, or that open doors and provides career and educational opportunities not only to the chosen titleholders, but to all the delegates who participate.
Other pageants should honor this type of stuff. I encourage women to do their research before entering a pageant. period. I'll def share this post with my yahoo group. Holla
