I've been viewing this part of the hbcuconnect message board and I've seen alot of people come on and ask questions and alot of people get attitudes when someone just wants to know an answer. I can understand if someone is tryin to diss your organization or ask personal things about your pledging process, but alot of times if someone asks something simple, some of yall will get rude and try to go off. Is it really that deep to try to go off on someone over the internet that you dont even know? Do you think thats going to make you appear any smarter or prove your point any more? If you see a post that you don't wanna answer, can't you just skip it? I mean, maybe they really did want the question asked, maybe they really didnt know the answer. I'm pretty sure you didnt know everything about every greek organization. Yahoo! GOOGLES, ASKJEEVES, and MSN might not answer all the questions someone is wanting to know. Maybe they want to ask a member of that organization personally. If you view the index part of the board it says right under the greek forum "Kappas Step...... Sigmas Step.......... Aight........... Whats Really Good.... Ask question about ya Favorite Greek Fam or Rep ya Letters!!" So if they are doing what the description says, why get upset alot of the times when stuff shouldnt be a biggie?
The fact of the matter is that it goes beyond us simply being on the net. basically the reason why most posts r not ignored is because this is a GREEK life forum. If this were a regular forum and we didn't really care then we would let a lot slide. For any one that wants to peruse Black Greek orgs they should know what to expect ... and they will learn that when u talk 2 a greek one-on-one that u have to be on top your game. I am sure that it is difficult for non-greeks to understand but the fact of the matter is that we hold our orgs close to our heart and we want to protect her from perps. Most of the time things may seem like "simple questions" to non greeks...but we as greeks know that it is so much more.
I think that most people tend to forget that BGLO's are secret societies...hence we will not tell you stuff that isn't meant 4 u. This site is nothing compared to what prospects have to go through in real life...and if you wanna be greek u have to put up with this. In order to go through any process u have to be humble and as greeks we tend to give off a cocky image to prospects but that is simply to weed the "wanna be's" out. The people that wanna be greek for the right reasons don't complain cause they know wat they want. If ur gonna blabber and discuss what u think is "just" and "unjust" then greekdom isn't 4 u! like I said prospects must learn 2 b humble and this site is just an attempt to teach those skills to those of u that go out 2 the real world to peruse ur interests. its not easy...if u wanna complain about this then...we don't need you...simple as that.
And yes I do feel that this was created in an attempt to get at the previous post "confused"...do I care...no! Like I tell all u prospects that hit me up...the best way to get info from a greek is to hit them up one-on-one. Think about it would u ask these random questions at greek programs in front of large groups of people...I hope not :???: then again based on some of yall on this forum u can never b 2 sure. smh
You must simple be nice and work with em trying to get information, instead of shun em out because that person you may be rude to, may have changed her mind not to join that sorority or fraternity.....
I'm a firm believer of Pre-Ordained Life... That is, I believe that if God had it planned out that you were going to be XYZ, than THAT is how it'll play out. If someone changes their mind about greek life, then they were not meant to be in it in the first place... it is definitely NOT a game, and especially not for the weak hearted.
Not saying that 100% of these reactions that come from greeks are correct, but I understand what they are saying. This website is a resource, but it is one that has to be used in a certain way. Back in the day, stuff was efficient, and there were so many "disrespectful" inquirers. People have love for their organizations, and they wanted everyone to feel the love, but when people come up on the web and disrespect or LACK respect for their struggle, then the allocation of pertinent information is decreased.
I'm not in a BGLO, and I may not be 100% proficient on a computer, but as T-A said, a simple google search can work wonders. There is NOTHING easy about Greek Life, and I really think that people complain too much as is... twenty years ago, people didn't have the internet, and yet there were lines that crossed... How so? Hard Work, Dedication, and Discretion.
People are so LAZY nowadays... More information is readily available now then EVER, and yet people don't want to tap into their sources...
I wonder what Arizona Leedonia Cleaver, Vashti Turley Murphy, Ethel Hedgeman Lyle, Vivian White Marbury, Henry Arthur Callis, Oscar James Cooper, Byron Kenneth Armstrong, Leonard Francis Morse, or Albert Hicks would think about this laziness...

are u directly referring that to me because girl.... I've never asked you or anyone else on this board ANYTHING. If I wanna know something about greek life, i know how to go about it. Everyone in my family is greek so trust, I do know something.
I dont really care that you think this is about the other post. I'm here to tell you that you are wrong. I didnt even make that post so why should i jump into someone else's business that isnt mines mama? I just wanted to know why alot of yall "jump" at people on here. Its not like they are asking you face to face. Maybe they think its easier to ask on this message board because noone really knows who you are. Its another thing to try to keep things secret and another thing to go about things in a down rude **** way.
