ima say something really controversal...and im not racist, its my opinion..i dont think todays blacks should be trusted with reprerations...How many do u believe will actually do the right thing wit it? thats why i agree with Chris but wit things like Affirmative Action and stuff dont u think we got it to a degree?
but if you owe someone something...you dont just not give it to them because you dont want them to use it in certain ways.......you owe it.
but i understand what you are sayin, it would throw off the economy...so i guess it would be more realistic to put it into programs or colleges or schools or famu, but at the same time...the reasoning above shouldnt be a reason to not hold companies accountable :???: and we got aff. action but its being slowly taken away.....fro example in cali...and black people are the ones allowing it...saying they dont need help and its not equal to have it, like its equal that the rich can afford 500 dollar programs to gaurntee 1-200 point sat score increases...talk about a level playing field. :???:

u wanna "level the playing field" on the SAT level?
here's how we can do that...
let's MAKE kids go to damn school and MAKE kids pay some damn attention
i took the SAT twice, and bettered myself by 200 points the second time around without spending a dime, and ya know how i did it? i studied.
I believe Blacks should get some type of reparation, but it shouldn't be money. Better schools, better housing, and better social programs.
I really like his idea...mmhmm... =D> ..and I don't think it would throw off the economy like just giving away money (right?)...if only the man was the that kindhearted..

Cosign...thats the way to do it.
Most Black people now wouldnt know what to do with money... They figure that they will go out and buy a couple of outfits, and a car and that makes up for what was done in the past... Schools and housing would be more appropriate... if they dont mess it up(like our people have a tendancy of doing when handed something of value)
Black people should DEFINATELY not recieve any money however better housing and programs would do nice IF black people manage to keep it up and not turn it into even more ghettos. I think that free college is the way to go.

i cant neccesarily agree with you.....at schools where im from, the ones where black people are, they dont have books and a host of other problems......but anyways.......
i personaly am gonna make it with or without reparations......but the piont is , its owed so theirfore it should be payed, however we do it.
I would not agree with awarding every black citizen reparations. White people aren't going for that anyway, it would change the American economic structure within two generations.
I do believe that blacks who were born before 1950 as an American citizen should receive reparations. The older baby boomers and current senior citizens actually lived through Jim Crow; especially those that lived in the south. They are at a more responsible age and can decide to distribute the wealth to their families or build their own estates.
The problems I have with using the money to improve schools and housing is that EVERYBODY would benefit from this program, and there is no way to measure the immediate impact of the additional funding.
Pouring more money into the school system can not counteract lack of motivation.
As far as using it for college education; only 28% of the population has a college degree. That percentage holds for black people as well, and that would seem terribly unfair to those who do not wish to attend college.
"we are not responsible for our oppression but we are responsible for our liberation" i don't know who originally said this quote but it has been proven time and time again. reparations is a tough subject. i think that it should happen in some way, preferably in social institutions like schools, but until then we just need to start doing what our ancestors showed us how to do: take care of us and ours. i would like to see the reparations a.k.a. repairs being made in black relationships. let somebody pay for family therapy and then see about giving out money.
