Is it true AKAs can no longer have probates? Posted on 03-31-2007
AMini

Hello I was just wondering if it was true that AKA's can no longer have probate shows. I went to visit a cousin at her school last week and their AKAs happened to be coming out that weekend. They had a very small coming out show and their outfits consisted of jeans and pink & green shirts with their letters on it. Someone told me it was because they could only have small coming out shows because the national office had banned probates because they felt it was a form of hazing. I was just wondering if this was true or not because I hadn't heard that until now. (Just a question, no disrespect intended to the organization or any of it's members.)

sweetheart, i can see that u are getting very emotional over this so let's make this clear. for some reason u are very consumed with AKA business, which very frankly doesn't concern u. if this were not the case, then u would not have even responded to this post. and by ur own admission u have been on the AKA national website several times (so much for discression)... honestly i sense a little bitterness, but thats besides the point. just know that the reason why u are getting such negative feedback is that no one is going to do research for u or any other prospect for that matter. trust, all of these questions u ask about my organization i already know the answer 2...did u ever think that maybe the reason u are having so much trouble finding the answer to this ? is b/c its not meant 4 u to know? anyway thanx shaluv2000, u took the words right out of my mouth. #40 "Formidable IVY" GTSPR07 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

No sweetheart, you over estimate your sense of importance! I am not at all concerned about if AKA's can probate or not. I was just letting you know that what you were referring people to go look at on the website, is not there! So obviously you do not know what is on your own organization's website. It makes me wonder do you even know what are some of the AKA initiatives or goals for the year of 2007? I bet non-members probably could tell you more about the vision that AKA has than you can! That is what happens to many people that join these organizations, they do it all for the wrong motives. After they pay their dues they do not keep up with the programs or goals, they just become a t-shirt wearer! That is a very expensive t-shirt you are wearing for you not to know what is listed on your organization's website! Anyway, just a thought. Yes, I have looked at the website on several occasions, because I look and compare the differences between the organizations. I look to see who has a strong vision, that lines up with mine. That is how you should choose a certain organization. You pick one that lines up with your purpose, and I hope that is what you did when you chose AKA BMORE2HAMPTON. If you are going to line yourself with a certain group of women, you better know the ins and outs and know what they stand for and what they believe. That is the reason why I have browsed the AKA's website, and that is nothing to be hush hush about. (you mentioned something about discretion in your previous post) The best way to represent your organization bmore2hampton is to be nice. The girl AMNI started this discussion, and some of the other AKA members were really rude, and that isn't the way to represent your organization. If you don't want to disclose certain information, just don't even reply. Anyway, bmorhampton I wish you well with your organization. Just keep your motives right, walk in love with people, and keep your eyes focused on Jesus! He is what really matters anyway.

Shaluv2000, there isn't any discretion with any of the organizations. People tell the so called "secrets" of these organizations. Also, it isn't a big secret why AKA's aren't probating. Half of the time they are in a bunch of trouble for hazing and a bunch of other foolishness! Also, they aren't well liked on most campuses so people tell on them when they do haze. Delta's haze also but they don't get caught, because people tend to like them, and don't turn them in. So that is the secret why AKA's don't probate. Half of the time they do a bunch of shady stuff during MIP, and the nationals won't allow them to probate. Now, so much for discretion!
