Name something that is a sin, that most people don't consider a sin.
Why don't most people think its a sin?
How is that sin, a sin?
(my bestfriend is at work and this girl was playing a game that asked her that question_
My question is what constitutes fillthy communication of your mouth? That has always been up for debate. Technically, if you say "Waaammp you" and there is malice behind 'wamp' then its profanity. Now if you say... "That sh!t was hot" whats wrong with that? Sh!t is a great all purpose noun and and there is no malice, anger, wrath, blasphemy behind it in context. Its just another word. Now if you say "You ain't sh!t!!!" thats different. Plus i'm sure it wasn't around in biblical times and although it may be profanity to us it isn't to people in other languages. I think it what is profane depends mostly on how it is used in context. Thats just my opinion tho.
Look at it like this "filthy communication of your mouth" is any that you know is inappropiate. I do agree with you that regular words used with malice behind them is just as bad as cursing, however using curse words I believe isn't acceptable in any situation. Ok let's use your quote for example. Would you say, "That sh!t was hot" in front of your mother? Or would you say it in front of your church? Or better yet would you say it in front of Jesus?
Probably not, and you know why? Because despite what argument you give, in your heart and in your mind you know that there's just something inherently wrong with cursing...
The question is what is cursing... i think u missed my point earlier. If you look at the bold according to that scripture you posted regular word with malice behind them ARE the same as curse words, not just as bad, they are one in the same.
Now as for the last argument u have a good point. It has been bought up a million times before though and it really is subject to opinion. Deep down in my heart i don't consider them to be profane but I also respect others enough not to use what they consider to be foul language. As for the church/parents thing... lets be real honest here, if i did say "**** or sh!t' in front of the church of course they would be shocked. But how many in the congregation use language liek that on a daily basis. Also what it really boils down to is what is the origin of these words and why are they considered to be profane in the first place. Things change and there was a time i couldn't even sa "****" in the house but now the word **** is accepted as common language and people don't think twice about it (thats another argument). So to me the only way to distinguish is how these words are used in context.
BTW I'm really just trying to present some other perspectives. I believe and understand where u're coming from i'm just tryin to present some other perspectives because i believe people can be a lil too close minded about things nah mean.
**** is a sin.....Genesis 38:6-10
King James Version:And Judah took a wife for Er his firstborn, whose name was Tamar. And Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD slew him. And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother. And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother. And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.New International Version:Judah got a wife for Er, his firstborn, and her name was Tamar. But Er, Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the LORD's sight; so the LORD put him to death. Then Judah said to Onan, "Lie with your brother's wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to produce offspring for your brother." But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so whenever he lay with his brother's wife, he spilled his **** on the ground to keep from producing offspring for his brother. What he did was wicked in the LORD's sight; so he put him to death also.

I don't see where that says anything about ****, that is saying don't commit fornication or partitipate in adultry. It says "when he lay with his brothers wife, he spilled his ****", not "when he by himself he spilled his ****". His wife probally helped him spill the ****, not he by himself

But that wasn't fornication....
I said that wrong before, I didn't mean fornication, I ment just committing adultry
It goes to show you the many ways the bible can be interpreted. I assume there is truth to all the explanaitons in regards to this verse.
But what I really love about the Bible, is even when interpreted different, we can find different lessons out of it. I see it as saying don't commit adultry, but Sagnastychic sees it as being obedient, so we all get a positive thing out of it
