At The Last Minute

Ladies...What are acceptable gifts that a man can give you at the last minute if he forgot about the special occasion? (birthday, anniversary, Mother's Day, "first time we held hands in public", etc) Something that won't make you say "You forgot didn't you?! " and spoil the mood. Flowers, cards and candy are basics but are they always acceptable at the last minute? Last minute being less than 24 hours. Give us fellas some ideas so we can stay out of the doghouse.
