MSNBC covered a story that invited viewers into the world of multi-racial marriages in America and their encounter with racism. It’s been 41 years since the 1967 Loving vs. Virginia case that opened the window of opportunity for interracial marriages. How is it so hard for someone to accept another because that person is different from their ethnic background? The ignorance and stubbornness of an individual can consume their mind from daring to become open-minded. One might say “I have no problem with other races…I have friends who are Black, White, Asian, Hispanic, and other ethnicities”, but yet they still have preconceived thoughts of stereotypes instead of letting it go. How can someone say “I Love You”, and can still hate someone based on RACE; Love and Hate can’t live together because it is a constant fight. One side has to win.Can one person truly watch the news and not think that all black men are criminals because there is a consecutive “coverage” of crimes committed by them; or categorize some Caucasians as white trash because they act a certain way or come from different economical backgrounds. Did anyone know that the phrase “white trash” is in the dictionary (look it up on www.dictionary.com) just like “******”, ”****”, and “****” can be found as well. This can show how deeply embedded racism is in American society because it is even in a reference book of higher learning; but then there is the First Amendment….Freedom of the Press. Here is a Cherokee saying:An elderly Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life…He said to them, “A fight is going on inside me, it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf is evil — he is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority, and ego.The other is good—he is joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith. This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too.”They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”The old Cherokee simply replied: “The one you feed”.HERE is the Link to the MSNBC Storyhttp://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24765917

I feel ya. I'm from the sticks too. Bama Gul for life ya dig..lol. The guy i'm with now is a brotha. It's just something about that chocolate that makes a girl go crazy...lol
I'm all for interracial dating moreso when it comes to black women. I just feel like they (and asian men) get dissed the most, so wherever you find love, take it. Whenever I see a black man with specifically a white chick, I do think in the back of mind whether he's with her because he thinks its easier with white chicks or if he really found something with her. I'm not in their relationship tho, so I keep it moving.
All in all though, I think interracial love is a beautiful thing, and almost any race mixed w/ black creates a beautiful baby cuz black is beautiful. And actually, one of my best friends is half black & half thai and she loves & recognizes both of her heritages. As long as they're exposed to both, they usually end up alright.
This is crazy.
i had one of my girls ova here lookin at this thread wit me like 10 minutes ago, and she sittin here tryin to type in her 2 cents on my account, as me.
apparently, she thinks interracial dating is fine, for anybody that aint black. asians, whites, and mexicans can interracially date all they want. but black is beautiful, and she says "don't no other race need to be tainting that".
Worry not though, I put her in her place. (So much, that she left, and I ALMOST feel bad about it lol)
But anyway, like many others have said in this thread before:
Love is love.
I have never been with a guy that was a different race than black, but I have absolutely nothing against interracial dating. Actually, in most cases, I think its kind of cute. The oppertunity just has never presented itself in a situation where I was interested in the other person of a different race, but I have had some interested in me. But basically, I think. If a black guy/girl wants to date someone outside their race, its their perrogative (unless their reasoning is f****ed up, like they hate their own pll). Otherwise, stay out da bidness (lol) & let em.
THERE is no pure anything. In fact the term "race" is subjective and really a social construct.
People have been mixing with one another for centuries. Look at the Mediterranean/Middle East/North African region. Blacks, Asians, Arabs and Whites all live there in one shade or another. Or you can look at South America as another strong example of intermingling.
I am black male and have dated/flirted with women from different backgrounds (Israeli, Brazil, Mexican, Lebanese, Egyptian and Jordanian). We're all the same really. Although I will say that ethnic women are the best
