I heard Spelman is stingy as HELL wit the money, and my family isn't feelin the expenses either, but don't give up girl! Even though we could DEFINITELY go to cheaper schools, Spelman is more than a school. It's an experience! I know I'm probably going to have to take out a loan too, but dammit I'll do it with a smile cuz that is my dream school. Have you checked out fastweb? You could try your luck at winning scholarships. I think I've worn my fingers down to nubs with as many essays as I've written lol Book2

Yeah see my mom knows about those amazing scholarships at howard and hampton and to her the experience would be about the same so she thinksI should just go to one of those schools. I agree though Spelman is definitely an amazing experience that i don't feel can be matched by any other school. I've looked at and joined fastweb but I feel like so many people apply to those what is the point. lol. Have you had any luck? I'm getting one scholarship from being an AKA debutante that will be pretty big and one scholarship from my church that will help. In my moms eyes if I got a scholarship from Howard or Hampton I could save the AKA and church scholarship for law school so it still doesn't really help.lol. I need a miracle or a great scholarship from Spelman.

Nope. I've had no such luck with fastweb, but I can't say I didn't try! lol Like you, my money comes from other sources. Most of my scholarships and grants come from my school and church, but that's only about 9 or 10 grand, which won't transfer out of state and won't NEARLY cover Spelman's costs. *sigh* I'll keep doing the fastweb thing though and hope/pray for a miracle! I hope in the end you decide that Spelman is for you and we'll be reading about each other on the "Acceptance Letters" forum. <--that reminds me...you don't see too many people on this site going to Spelman. You mostly see Howard/Hampton prospects ( is it HowardHamptonconnect.com now?), but I digress Closedeyes

Thanks good luck to you as well. And if Spelman doesn't hand over some money it'll be howard or hampton for me too. lol. I'm praying though. The debutante scholarship would at least cover first year room and board. Hopefully I'll get the deans scholarship. I've already taken the SAT once. 1310/1600; so I think I might qualify. Of course their website doesn't list qualifications though.
