So what is it with black folk and this america thingy??? Posted on 07-02-2004
Hahaha

i had this aurgument with a white friend of mine... do black people just plain out hate america? my white friend wa telling me that every political aurgument he gets in with a black peson (besides me of course), they seem every unpatriotic, and demonize america. i tried to point out the fact that a large percentage of blacks have served in the armed forces and in all of our wars...but he slaps me with "oh, they only joined because of thier economic situation, not because they felt it was thier patriotic duty..." he aurgued that blacks are quick to point out what's wrong with america and it's faults, and never seem to want to concentrate on what's right and the much good we have done around the world... then i thought about it... hmm... does this cat actually have a point? what do you think? do we just hate this country? do you hate this country? if so why? if you love america, represent on this thread too. i know there are some black folk that would die for this land on here, right? right? ................ :? ................... :? ....................... :? ..................... :? .................... :? right? please don't let jonathan be right, dammit! he's gonna read this thread! *should i have put that?* *starts umming black nation ath--- ahem i mean star spangled banner*

I don't hate America. I just think it's "white America" and very twisted at times. Nonetheless, it is not stopping me from doing what I have to do to be successful. However, you just can't stop and think without remembering Africans being enslaved in America, by the white man, with the racism still going on today. I live in Georgia-nuff said. I just think more should be done to try to Unite America. A lot of people don't have pride because they feel they have nothing to be proud of.
