From another board I go to:
Thought this was kind of interesting...
Bush & John 3:16
The Lord has a way of revealing those of us who really know him, and those that don't! Think about it!
Bush gave a big speech last week about how his faith is so "important" to him. In this attempt to convince the American people that we should consider him for president, he announced that his favorite Bible verse is John 16:3.
Of course the speech writer meant John 3:16, but nobody in the Bush camp was familiar enough with scripture to catch the error. And do you know what John 16:3 says?
John 16:3 says; "And they will do this because they have not known the Father nor Me".
The Holy Spirit works in strange ways. Pass it on VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!!
This is really interesting.....VOTE KERRY!
i don't think black people should be allowed to vote this election...black people or women....
dark brown people are okay though... 8)
lol..some white people gonna vote for Kerry too. 8)
yeah, but if you take out black people, kerry would loose 15% of his votes...
black folks are the only idiots that are giving him enough support to be even a contender!
do you cats realise how important this election is going to be and how important it';s gonna be that bush gets reelected???
i hate black people!
but i can deal with dark brown...even purple people... 8)
I guess its time for me to come out of political retirement.

^^Conspiracy theories? Then tell me why we're in Iraq. I have been waiting for over a year for someone to tell me why our troops ((or what's left of them)) are in Iraq.
We're in Iraq to remove a dictator from power. Nothing more, nothing less. It should have been done years ago as Saddam has long since been in violation of the Treaty set up during the Geneva Conference. He **** a butchered his own people, or actually the people who are not of his own religious beliefs. Saddam catered to maybe 10% of the Islamic population in Iraq, the percent that was Sunni Muslim. Everyone else (The Shi'ite majority) was brutally treated, butchered and **** by the madman. We put him in power, its only right that we correct that mistake.
Yeah we invaded on the notion that he might have WMD's but the fact remains that for years he was there unsupervised. Who exactly is to say what he had or did not have time to remove, destroy or hide?
[sarcasm]But wait, we're after the **** that Iraq produces. That's right. I completely forgot. I mean, Iraq produces so much of the **** that comes into America that we simply could not stand by and let it be controlled by that madman.[/sarcasm]
If you knew your facts you would know that Iraq produces only a small percent of American ****. I think there like 16th on the list and produce less the 8 or so % of American ****. Now, if we had invaded Venezuela or something, then I might believe that we invaded for reason of ****, as they produce around 20% of ****.

Tell me why our economy is in turmoil.
Oh please, The economy goes through periods of recession and expansion by 8-10 year cycles. The economy is like the moon, it waxes and it wanes for whatever reason it wants. Thats just the way it is. The economy is never going to be permananently stable, that is one of the basic principles of economics. Unfortunately, people are either so much on the Bush is evil bandwagon or is just ignorant to the principles of economis that they wont grasp that concept.
Secondly, the attack of 9/11 was aimed at our financial capital. Duh the economy is going to suck right now, but its improving. Why? The tax cuts that Bush set up. Trickle down economics. Another of those economic principles that most are either to ignorant or just dont want to grasp.
Peace,
I respectfully disagree.
We had no business in Iraq. Zero. For far to long the US gov't has decided what other nations should think and do. This government moreso than ever b4 is an imperalist government bent on financial gain and world domination in the name of GOD and Democracy. Indeed what Saddam and his sons and followers did to the people of Iraq was horrible but what do u say to the US supporting Israel and funding Israel in its attack on the Palestinians(spelling?)? Thats almost the same thing.
Look what we did in Afganistan the region has yet to recover. We let Bin Laden go.In the name of removing a dictator our troops in. Iraq are being ****, maimed. Innocents r being kidnapped and ****.All in the name of removing a dictator. We as a people were lied to promote this and accept this war.The trust and honor of this nation and its people have been broken and lost.
While on the home front. **** is on the rise but Bush cut **** funding to fund his war.Drug use is still a problem amongst our young ppl. Our rights r being taken away slowly. We are being told to be afraid yet act normal b/c of shadow warnings We r no longer governed freely we are dictated too.
Further more if you have seen or read anything about the Bush/Chaney financials it is a clear indicator that money was also a focus of the invasion of Iraq not just to get a Dictator our and honestly not every country needs democracy. Some countries need a dictator the world cant and shouldnt be the same everywhere. Democracy here has resulted in stolen elections and our civil liberties being taken. Men and women being murdered abroad and at home b/c of illegal actions Bush has taken.
The police here are acting lawlessly, ciontelpro still exists, jim crow lives and Bush is the cause of all the negativity. How can Whoopi Goldberg get introuble for going at Bush at a private event yet the VP has nothing said about him for dropping a big ole "f**k u" on the floor of congress? If u have seen Michael Moore's movie you'll see alot of disturbing things that would change your stance on this war.
As for the finances Bush's "Tax cuts" help the wealthy. While I am not attacking you you seem quite in favor of President Select Bush's actions these past four yrs based on finances and his decision to start wars.
I read u said u come from a well to do family and have money put away for u. How much is tied to stocks? Or safe investments. If any are Bush's tax cuts will benefit you as well. You would not want his cuts not to happen or you will lose money. Most individuals who have money don't mind Bush, he helps the rich and screws the poor. Its simple facts. Bush is pure money and greed. He makes the rich richer. I am not attacking your wealth as u have stated but it irks me when individuals run to Bush's defense and sound the drum beat of his words needlessly.
The man has done nothing to benefit the people. The people didnt want him. He has done nothing but further promote a high level caste system where the wealthy remain the **** party and the poor remain the serving party.
Am I safe in assuming you will vote Bush in November?
Here is a quote I found that sadly may soon come true if we allow BUSH to remain in office....
"When the United States takes its place in the graveyard of empires, its tombstone will display 'BORN in ****, PRACTICED in ****, and came to a **** end'."
--Leo Szilard
Peace.
another **** rant filled with conspiracy thoeries and half truths...some things not even trying to be half-truths...
and yet another reason why black people shouldn't be allowed to votte in november...
This discussion in pointless. Nobody knows the truth of the situation right now. All we have is what the media is led to feed us.
Everybody's mnid is made up on who they are going to vote for, and it probably doesn't matter.
There is no time to be wasting waiting for an election to do anything. Politics have no affect on our lives really. The only thing a president can really do is go to war which is exactly what Bush, Clinton, Bush, and a lot of other presidents did.
Something big is going to happen in the next couple years that is going to change everybody's mindset. Even you HARTline.
Finally, yes I am voting for Bush. Why? Becasue other then saying "Bush is wrong." What is the democratic platform. What have they said other then, Bush is handling this or that wrong. Not a damn thing. They're taking advantage of the anti-Bush sentiment in favor of any real issues and its sickens me that people are falling for it, but eh, what can you do.
Now I'm man eneough to admit that Bush is not much of a better choice, he does have his faults and points that I strongly disagree with him over, but out of Kerry and him, I'd choose Bush.
Sadly acknowledging this statement as true. And that's why I say that John Kerry is an idiot.
I read your words Jamarcus and it saddens me to hear another black man support a man who has no love for the black race. Who would rather promote in secret ways a way for us to be returned to the **** days. Who wants our liberties removed. Who wants to send our brothers and sisters to be ****. But You are a loyal Bush follower and I can respect that. It is a shame tho.
Also its not because he is a republican in history the republican party origninally was the party that helped Blacks more than the democrats. I when I finally registered was a republican but in reading and learning that party is full of shyt. Same can be said for the democrats at times but they have done more in my eyes to help me and my people,my race currently than the republicans have. And they actually stay on the issues. I have since switched parties. But i follow my mind and vote my will, if there was a strong republican candidate I'd consider him but there isnt. And while Kerry isnt the best choice he has a party of free thinkers behind him and more importantly he has the people behind him unlike bush. The will of the people no matter how small in some cases is still strong.
VOTE KERRY!
ReALity,
I agree something major will happen but not in 2yrs but much sooner and we will be forced to deal in ways like never b4. Check ourselves or get checked by someone else.
I hate to rain on your parade... but it appears this is a hoax.
There is no 16th chapter in any of the three books of John, nor a passage anywhere in the Bible (either the KJV or standard translations) quoting "...and they will do this because they have not known the Father nor Me."
I invite you all to consult the New Testament, and see for yourself.
I John 3:16: "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."
Of more interest to you might be the next verse, quoted (standard version) as follows:
I John 3:17: "But if any one has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
Now there's one to debate. Holla!

Wow, that's a great discussion quote. I'm anxious to see where this goes.

Well...with all due respect, I'm looking through the Bible right now, and there is a John 16:3 (not from the three epistiles of John, but from The Gospel According to Saint John). So in other words, I believe the person was referring to St. John, instead of I John, II John, or III John.
In the KJV, it reads, "And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me."
In the NKJV, it reads, "And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me."
However, I did look up I John 3:16 and I John 3:17, and it says the same things you typed.
I just wanted to clarify that. That's all.
