This is how it goes
the situation: my first year at my HBCU i hated it, so i decided to transfer....that didn't exactly work out to my advantage, so i decided to enroll back at my former school.....
problem: how the hell do i go back to a school, which i hated and laughed at, as i left...
i mean, im a 20 year old young man with integrity, dignity, and self respect....how pathetic looking is it for me to crawl back to the place i loathed/despised now knowing that it was a dumb decision for me to even leave???? (im also still gonna be considered a sophomore for some reason  )
i mean, am i suppose to blend in like i never left?
the friend situation is kinda shaky 2, since i basically lost contact with most of the n!ggaz i chilled with
the whole thing just feels weird to me, and i could use some friendly advice, or at least some sort of empathy....
holla at me
p.s. im kinda giving this specific HBCU its right to anonymity .....should that matter tho
Yeah, I'm thinking Hampton too, because that's the only school I know with a curfew...and even then, it's only your freshman year. But I know Hampton can also be considered a "ghost town" (not much to do) and it is very expensive to stay in a hotel there. My grandparents live out there.
I don't know if I would suggest a third school...while I agree that you may not be completely happy back at whatever school you were at, and you are massively ahead of the thousands of other young black men in prison or roaming the streets, going to another school may set you back several paces classification-wise -- all your credits may not transfer -- and although taking an extra year or so isn't bad, you don't want to be in school forever.
Maybe it will get better for you your second year. The school can't possibly have a curfew/no visitation rules your sophomore year (well, it could, but it's unlikely) and you may get into better classes once you get into your major and such. The administration is in various stages of bad at most HBCUs, so take comfort in the fact that we're all going through the same things  And you will be in a different dorm, so your dorm director will be different as well.
As for your old friends, if they are really friends they should understand your decision, and accept that you may have made a mistake. You can move on from there.
yeah i think the curfew and visitation only last for like first semester. On top of that i know Hampton is in like the middle of no where, so join some organizations. Join up with some people and start a board game, i know it might seem childish, but it is really fun.
From what i am told there are plenty of upperclassmen with cars and most of them don't mind giving rides. So if you need to get off campus u can get off campus.
Now my advice is under the pretense that you are coming back to Hampton.
i dont think its Hampton, it could be Cookman because we too have a curfew and we dont have visitations and like many of u we too have MANY MANY complainers that ultimatley decide to stick with it
Okay I was a little harsh. I hope that your experience the second time is rewarding, and that you develop the type of friendships and connections that make college rewarding.
LOL, I'm mad everyone is trying to guess what HBCU it is like that's gonna make a difference..lol. BTW, XU has a curfew for ALL students, not just freshmen AND they don't get coed visitation.

I dont really consider Daytona a "ghost town"...I'm thinking it's Hampton too...hmm...he said ghost town so I was thinking maybe it could be Tuskegee also but I dont know if they have a curfew...the guessing game...

trust me daytona is a ghostown it only comes to life during spring break
Your situation makes me think of a popular song by Joni Mitchell.
" You dont know what you've got til its gone. "
Basically I used that lyric because u hated ur HBCU and talked bad about it when u left, but once u did and went elsewhere u hated that place more...And now u can atleast kinda appreciate your HBCU, cause the situation coulda been worse. As far as the old friendships at that HBCU....hopefully you didnt burn any bridges with those people and they are willing to befriend and accept you. This is just a good lesson in DONT BE SO QUICK TO TALK SH*T.
