TOO Eager for Nalia

Im not mad at the fact that ya'll pledged and all of that ish....more so that ya'll are perpetrating the greek life experience...like nalia is for greeks...brands was started by greeks (the Ques was the 1st as always)...but signs...might be takin it too far...i have a somewhat organization on my yard...its more like a community of friends but they went out got nalia, did they stroll, got they call out signals, and ****like that but that is what greeks do....u dont see masons walkin round doin call out signals or struts and strolls...they are older than this country but they still dont do it...u don't see them with crossing jackets and ish...y...they are not greeks...but we as greeks did derive from them...im not housing you but all the non greek orgs who perpetrate as if they were...i jus dont like it...its like if u dont go greek you can pick up this org and it will be jus like being a greek...let greek be greek and if your non greek stay non greek (all the way)...

I've been a long time member of HBCU Connect, but have never really posted on the message boards that much until recently. This has been an interesting thread and as you can imagine, it holds a certain amount of interest for me. (And YES, I know I am late :lol: ) First of all, as a brother of the Pershing Rifles fraternity, I agree with what some of you said and disagree with you what some of you said. I do agree with the poster who said ealier that sometimes that when you see Pershing Rifles at HBCUs that they do not mirror all of those who are PWIs, but there is a side to us that exemplifies the ROTC/Military/business side of P/R: The Military Balls, the events and everyday operations of ROTC, etc. Quick side note: When General Larry Ellis (now retired 4 star general, fourth African American four star and Morgan grad and P/R alumni) had his 4 star promotion, he had my brothers from Morgan give a drill exhibition performance at the Pentagon. Its hard for someone on the outside to know the many facets of my fraternity, just like it would be hard for me to see the many facets of any of your fraternities or sororities. Secondly, we are a fraternity and a legitimate fraternity at that, well established and recognized around the country. People at HBCUs dont know too much about P/Rs because mostly none of us had any knowledge of it before we came to school. But believe me, it carries A LOT more weight in society then most people think. Thirdly: To answer a question when someone asked do the brothers at different schools other than HBCUs know the grip, handsign or call. To answer your question: A lot of them dont, but a lot of them do. Hell, there are white P/Rs at Johns Hophins U (not too far from Morgan) who have line shirts, numbers, line names, know the grip and the call! As well places like LSU, Clemson, Christopher Newport, Ohio State just to name a few. And even though we all do not carry our fraternity business in the same manner (and most GLOs can attest that things can differ from chapter to chapter when it comes to method of procedure) we all know that when we come together that we are all still a part of the same brotherhood A brotherhood that brings people of all races mixed into one family. It also comes down the differences between white and black people. All of us on here know that there is a "white way" to do things and a "black way" to do things. We as a people have a unique way in expressing ourselves in every thing we do. The manner of P/Rs on HBCU campuses is just simply us expressing our pride and love for our frat in our way. Sure, we can wear our dress blue uniforms with the cords and rank pins and ribbons, but we can also loosen up, rock nalia, step, hop/stroll/walk and get down as well! That to me, is what P/R so special. As far as contributions to society, aside from the military side and political side, you'd be surprised that the people who are P/Rs: Just to name one you dont know: Earl Graves (who is also an Omega), one of the most successful businessmen and publishers in America. As far as 'nalia goes, I believe we have a right to wear it. We are a fraternity, not a social club or tutoring group. I dont agree with "nalia is just or greeks" Hell, if pledged blood, sweat and tears into my frat, you better gotdamn believe that I'm going to rep it until the day my casket falls 6 feet under the surface! yall are drill team frat. and are mad bc your gpa was too low to plege greek. trust me i know too many of yall that want to do greek but cant and the funny thing is most of yall dont grad from college or go into the military. the white p/r was founded in 1894, the "scooney" p/r was founded around 1960s, and its in yall pledge books. if u look yall are throwing up an omega sign and the alpha snake..... yall scooney p/r suck ****. who the hell signs with the same call. :lol:
