I was on mtv.com and saw in casting call that this topic is soon going to be an episode, and just wanted everyone who comes to this site to know about it (and possibly give sum one the idea of considering this?)
True Life: I Go To An All Black College
Originally African American colleges were created to ensure equal educational opportunities for black students. Today, many of these schools stand out academically, have developed unique cultures and are even sought out by non-black students. Do you attend a predominantly African American college and feel your school has a different culture than most "typical" colleges? Are you part of an upcoming event that is unique to your university? Are you part of a sorority, fraternity or sports team and have a rivalry with another black university? Are you one of the few non-black students at an all black college?
If you appear between the ages of 18 and 28 and one of these scenarios describes you, e-mail True Life at college@mtvstaff.com. Please include name, address and phone number.
Now, who would actually consider this? (I wish I could, but Im still in High School  )
wompity womp womp  . Those are accounts from thin-skinned babies who obviously couldn't cut it. HU is NOT for everyone, and i don't expect every person who goes here to love it. That is why one is supposed to thoroughly research the institution of their choice, pray about it, and choose wisely.
As for the ghetto thing...that's the oldest thing in the book. NEXT! I'm FROM the ghetto, so i am in no way ashamed of where i came from, or where i am now. And just becuz our school is in the ghetto doesn't mean it IS ghetto. USC is in the heart of South Central (the HOOD) Los Angeles, but that doesn't take away from the intelligence of their students or the prestige of the institution. The same goes for Howard.
Don't make me break out the Skeegee "testimony"
Umm, can we just leave Tuskegee out of this  8) .

*Jamila, back away from the computer. I repeat back away from the computer*
Mila, whatever happened to gettin focused on school this week. Don't reward ignorance by lowering yourself to his level. FAMU is the largest SINGLE-CAMPUS HBCU, beaten only by the Southern University & A&M College System, so MTV coming BACK to FAMU would be nice.
But since you want to quote statistics from a magazine that only used a representative sample of students at FAMU, then I guess FAMU students are going to be some of the strongest most successful students. If FAMU is as bad as you claim it is, then there is nothing that AMerica can through at us to bring us down. Why?, because we've been through it all according to your statements. Just because FAMU is public don't mean a thing, Alabama and Auburn are both public schools. Besides if it was so bad that FAMU is a public university then how come from that same magazine that we were rated #6 in the "Best Colleges for African-Americans." In case you didn't know that is also behind North Carolina A&T also a public college, so watch what u say and whose facts you quote because u might be stuck if u don't do your research FULLY
ha...don't get it twisted homie  . Trust me, i am nowhere near sensitive enuff to seriously get offended by a lil clownin on a message board. I wasn't goin off, i was just throwin some stuff back at ya. That's how i do. If peeps dish it, i'm gonna dish it back. It's all love tho 8) .
Now...back to the TOPIC. I think it would be interesting to see how the True Life producers film and edit it. I'd still watch it tho.
Skegee is the biggest HBCU Campus in the nation **** 650 acres.......I've seen FAMU's......and it's nowhere near as big as TU's
Wrong AGAIN dumb-dumb !!!!! We are talking about population size...Yall may have more acres as you claim ( which may be questionable :? )....but we have more PEOPLE than any other HBCU.
What do you mean edit?...you mean take out the bad stuff about HBCU's?...nah MTV is hardcore..they show everything :-\
Um, not exactly. The school's public relation department still maintains quality control over whatever is taped, and they have the latitude to edit and critique anything that MTV records.
The "Crashing In" episode that featured NCCU was in editing for nearly a month and a half before it was finally approved. But then again, your school would have to have been on MTV, for you to know that.
