There are alot of HBCU's that are disappearing and cutting programs because lack of funds. There having to join with other schools and crazy stuff like that just to keep going. Morris Brown VUU just to name some. Yall what is going to happen if HBCU's just keep disappearing and we as a race just keep losing what we worked so hard to achieve?? Would you ever consider going to a white school if your school disappeared or would go to another HBCU.
I also have refused to give any more money to my alma mater until they clean things up. I often give cash directly to students for specific things (books, travel to conferences, research supplies, etc). I have never needed to have my name in a book on or a list detailing my gifts. Reading List for black college students:
The Souls of Black Folk
The Miseducation of the Negro
Race Matters
Native Son
The Black Bourgeoisie
The Confessions of Nat Turner
About the "tarnished HBCU money" what are you talking about? The "wrong" that i mentioned was arguing about your two words "investment and eandowment". I have no problem with the money, it is not tarnished. You just said that problems with HBCU education comes from lack of money. Untrue. And yeah, my personal endowment, is a lot larger than any HBCUs, what were you talking about?
I'm getting real sick of you and your false statements about HBCU's. Little boy, you have yet to even earn a college credit. With that being said, stop arguing with people who know first hand about what HBCU's have to offer.

It's attention he's after. Don't feed it. Message boards can feel overwhelming and intimidating when you're not used to communication by typing. Some of us don't have a "soapbox" "platform" or anything special to say and yet we want to belong. It's similar to hackers in a way. They mess up other people's fun FOR fun.
Blessings

I haven't read half of the books I'm interested in due to money. Don't have any. :???: But I remember reading The Souls of Black Folk by WEB Dubois and I really want to get The Miseducation of the Negro. Thanks for reminding me.
I think that HBCUs are great institutions cause where i came from we didn't learn anything about our history all we learned was the white man's history and a little about slavery. when i went to hampton for pre-college this past summer was the first time i really got to learn about my history other than from my mother. Now i'm at A&T and they keep talking about merging A&T with UNC-G which is a PWI and i will be damned if i let that happen. HBCUs were created because the white man did not want us there and despite what anybody believes they still don't want us there. why go somewhere where you are still subjected to prejudice? where the students say the only way you got in was because you were black or because you're an athlete? yes HBCUs are messed up in little ways, but despite their faults, I feel like they're still needed. what if somebody wasn't comfortable with being around white people? I was never around a whole lot of black people so when it came time for me to decide where I wanted to go to school I decided a HBCU so I could interact with my people, so that I could get a quality education from black people, so I could learn about my history, so that I could gather with my people and strive for a better world for future generations, so that I could prove people wrong about us being apathetic. I take offense to everything!! I think that we as people have taken many steps back from the struggle that our grandparents and parents have gone through, and we need to get together and restart the revoulution!!! IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD!!!

I agree. I believe that HBCu's are lacking the alumi support which PWI's rake in. I just can't understand why? I mean, I understand that HBCu's are smaller than most PWI's, so there aren't going to be as many alumni that can contribute back. It's just sad though. If I become successful, I'd like to think that giving back to the institution which helped me achieve my dream is the least I can do.
hmm..so lack of funds from alumni, lack of funds from gov't, and mismanagement by administration. What can we as a student body (at our respective schools) do to dimish this problem?
