I just wanted to know why you guys are going to HBCU's. I think that
other colleges are great but college is about more than getting a degree, it's about getting a complete education. A complete education consist of learning about the world, why your are hear, what are going to do in life and most importantly it's about learning about yourself. Now other colleges can fulfill all of those but an HBCU is obviously the best to learn about yourself and your people. I personally got accepted into some of the top colleges in the nation but I would turn down Harvard to go to an HBCU!
B/c imma get f*cked by the Financial Aid office anywayz, might as wel be from people I can relate to, naw'mean? But on the seriousl...I Luh Black Folks!
I got in to Stanford and Georgetown, but I am sure I won't end up in any of them becuase i know i will withstand many prejudices and racism which i don't need. I want to attend a HBCU mainly because I want to be around a lot of hard working, educated, and talented blacks. I want to be around my people and forget what i have been seeing my whole life which is a lot of ignorant black folks who don't wanna get a head and blame all their misfortunes on the white man, and have **** mentality. Going to an HBCU will give me a support system and positive feedback from what i hear. It's nice to just see black people valuing education and being leaders. I Know if I attend Spellman, Howard, or Hampton i will be around a lot of strong black leaders so that is why i am attending an HBCU and ditching the IVY leagues!!!.....
Hopefully i won't regred it!!!!
i think cuz my momma wanted me to get a good edu so she worked really hard to gets me in a white school so by me goin to a hbcu i can kinda find myself and me able to speak without every1 sayin"ooo that's so typical of andree, she only like her black folk..." even if i do have black friends..... i dnt have enough. so if i go to spelman i think i'm gonna feel moreconfortable then if i went to harvard....
Cuz it is a completely different experience. Plus, it would good to chill for a minute and not get asked stupid questions about trivial things like hair. I think that there is auroa that covers HBCUers when they leave. They seem to be more confident and out spoken and they have a better love for their heritage. Plus, if it as good as the rest, y not support your own?

Yea I definitely feel where you coming from I'm in the same boat, but they could give me a full scholarship and I would still turn them down for the real HU. PS I recommend Howard  .
I want to go to an HBCU for the experience and for once being a majority instead of a minority. The experience that you get from a HBCU is like no other. Like it was said before if I'm going to pay for an education I want to give my money to the institutions that were created to help me to succeed, why would I go to an instituton that my ancestors may not have been able to go to?
