Who do you feel has it the hardest in America, as far as opportunities and the freedom of progression is concerned: The Black man...who America realizes is strong and very capable in spirit in whatEVER they choose to do in life...and therefore it (America) tries its damndest to try to hold him back... OR The Black woman...who not ONLY must face the very alive and present racial problems and obstacles, but also the gender ones as well, as America still feels as though women either can't or at least shouldn't...do certain things men do... ? ? ? ? ?

:???: ...What does that have to do with black men not taking care of their kids now? True enough, that did happen during slavery, but I don't remember their being any white man beating black men with a whip in the twentieth century saying "N*gga, don't take care of your kids! That's just them being irresponsible and trifling on their own part.
A big part of black america still has that **** mindset unknowingly. The **** masters goal was to reduce our impact in families and no longer be the leaders. Right now it's lookin like they are somewhat successful. Right?
I'm not denying that some people have the **** mentality, I just don't buy the reasoning of "it happened during slavery, thats why they aren't taking care of their kids, because they were systematically programmed that way." I don't think it was succesful at all. What is was succesful at was setting up a major crutch for people to use for years to come. Am I saying that slavery was not an important part of our history and did not destroy a lot of our people pysches, no. I'm just saying that black people not achieving certain aspects of life is not all a result from slavery. Some of that is people being lazy and trifling and not doing things on their own. That whole "the white man is keeping us down" is getting very old and tired. A lot of people come from truly some of the worst communites in America, but they make it out and achieve some type of "American Dream". I just don't see the reasoning, because if those same people had the same oppurtunities, what's the reason for the failure of those who don't make it?

Yea, now is what I was talking about. Not years ago, because years ago men still took care of their business. Single parent families didn't become major like they are until not more then half a century ago. I was just tryn to say it's all catching up. A big part of black america still has that **** mindset unknowingly. The **** masters goal was to reduce our impact in families and no longer be the leaders. Right now it's lookin like they are somewhat successful. Right? Not blaming them at all tho, we still are accountable for our own actions but society has it's contribution and everybody doesn't overcome the stereotypes.

You said it all. In slavery, one of the owner's main objective was to first and foremost the black man to hit rock bottom. Why? It was some kind of laws or something that I read over a while back, but I forgot the name of them and they talked about how black males were purposely beat in front of their families so that they would no longer be the heads and leaders. We can see this taking effect with all the fatherless families. This is just one of the stereotypes black males have. Others include being criminals, being unintelligent, and slothful. I'm not trying to make this a gender thing or anything but black males are the most despised in America. Black women have alot of opposition but black males are the ones with the targets on them because plain and simple- when the black male is attacked it's gone to reflect on the woman. As more and more men leave their families more and more women have to take on the unnatural role on taking care of the family. This has made women have to become stronger and even more black males suffer because they don't have that father figure. It just becomes a chain. Black men are made to have the hardest instead of the females because if it was the other way around it wouldn't effect black males in a negative way. If anything it would be motivation.
I think that you are talking about the Willie Lynch letters. I have a copy of them and it states everything that you have just said and more. And when it comes down to it I think that we are equal. We both have our own set of issues that we must deal with and trully if we were to step in each others shoes we would probably have a different opinion of the entire situation. I think that as a people we're brain washed in certain areas. It varies from person to person, but it affects us all all. What went on during 17th-20th centuries was and still is detrimental to the total psyche of the black person, which is a significant part of the reason of why we're in the position that we currently are in. I also wanted to point out what someone else said, I don't quite remember who, but they said that woman are getting into the work place easier than men now days. Which I think is very true. A coporation will hire a woman for a job before a man now days. It relates what was in the WL Letters. If you let black women have more power than the black man somehow it can cause a rift in the black family, which has an important influence on the black youth. There's something that they find scary about a black man with power. Look at all the black leaders that the government worked dilligently to destroy, what happened to the Black community afterwards? Sad.

Lol. Mexicans have it the worst. There is no arguing around it either. I've seen Mexican families struggle to keep their house and help their family as best as they can. And they do it EVERYTIME. Why? They have no complaints about what they do, as long as their family is happy. That's an honest blue-collar citizen right there. So I say C, Mexicans.

Yea willie lynch letter that's what I was talking about. I agree with everything you said. They are still affecting us and that's why it is more difficult for a black man to be successful. Not so much cause of all the obstacles but because of the mindset that we have been conditioned to have.

It's a shame at how few straight black men seem to be "surviving" in corporate America. The sad fact is that they, along with black women, are seen as unthreatening, kinda like Michael Jackson or Prince (well, the Artist).
