yea i gave the last option thing because it was clear he didnt care about -patriotism and that -Honor was a large reason that he did not approve of blacks in the military so for ease i focused on the enlisted side and ppl with only a few options but yea the military isnt just for those without options...we can testify to that

The military is like teaching or other jobs related to servicing: It's not for everybody. Some people enjoy it, and are built for it physically and mentally. Personally, it ain't for me. Even if there was a draft I would possibly end up getting out of it. I see war as not going to die for your country, but to make someone else die for their country and I just couldn't do it. But I do support those who do. Yea, this war in Iraq is shady to me, but bottom line were over there so someone has to fight. Whoever wants to be in the military should be able to enter the military in my opinion ( if there stable). Everybody isn't built for the road of college-job. Some people want the military. Some people just suck at school and are better off in a factory, raildroad, or driving a truck. We all have our desires and our niche in life. We as black people did contribute a lot into building America and seeing that we're still here, we have to help in holding it up.

^^^..I agree. I feel like people can use the military as a means to learn the skills they'll need for a job as a civilian. The military can be used as a steppin stone for those who can't make it off the jump.

U fight to keep that "second class" citizenship...second class is better than no class at all!
i agree with that 2nd is better then none ... i do have a split opinion on this though. the military can benefit you and your family in the long run sometimes. MY dad was drafted to vietnam at 19 andbecause he went. Anyone in my imediate family goes to college for free (tuition, books, and housing) and ontop of that money to live. i am thankful to have that. so it has its positive sides. on the other hand there are many veterans who were homeless when they got back from wars and didnt get the help that they should have gotten. and yes back in the day blacks were put on "the front line" in previous wars. in all there is good and bad things about the military. i have yet to sway more to one side. all i can do is support the people who are in right now

^^^...Thanks missy. I agree, there is the good and the bad about the armed forces. As far as the homeless veterans, that shouldn't happen. I know that as a future Marine, I have a responsibilty to help out a MArine I see in need.

if you aren't doing well whose fault is that? your own fault the military should be the LAST option for Black youth thatz wut i said and black soldiers are not treated and respected like white soldiers are when they are not they can seek action you ask black vets when they got their benefits and recognition there are ships named after black veterans and awards are a large part of the armed services, however black ppl don't exactly have an affinity for the military. ESP. black college graduates, thus ur not goin 2 see alot of black high-ranking officers until that is changed. That is what my scholarship was put into action for, i'm on a HBC NROTC scholarship, which targets black colleges in hopes of recruitin' more black officers you're brainwashed i'm not truly brainwashed...i'd consider it more or less an attitude chang i understand that the military has racism CP, but so does everywhere...like u said we're second rate in america however I'd like 2 be second rate with a good job... i understand ur concern however and i'm not vain...i know not everyone runs thru it like colin powell or wuteva and i'm not sayin i'm super patriotic...but as a military brat of someone prior-enlisted and as someone in ROTC i've seen several different sides of the military and i think if you play the game right u can 'get urz' out of the system...and despite how we're treated or our motives i love the fact that when we're presenting ourselves on the news we present a message of humanitarianism and promote liberty...whether or not we deliver this i can't tell you...i'm not on the field and i see everything from the same venues as you...but the msg is undeniable (maybe combatted by our countries and other countries endowed with the option 2 be against the state (which as a journalism major i also appreciate) but undeniable)
that scholarship was to get educated Blacks out there in the military to die you think you see these same recruiters at IVY league colleges like Harvard and Yale? you think recruiters are busy drafting intelligent and wealthy whites hell no they're gonna get the naive **** and sadly you fall into that crowd and please beleive you are NOT getting ANYTHING outta the system the system is pimpin YOU the money you recieve is your own money from working they take some money outta each of your paychecks then give it to u later in a lump sum so it looks like it's free money when it's really not

Article I: I am an American, fighting in the armed forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense. Article II: I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist These words prolly have no meaning to you Changeplease. That's the code of conduct for people in the armed forces during wartimes. There's no hidden messages, it's straight up tells you that when you join, THERE IS A POSSIBILITY YOU COULD DIE. Anyone who joins sees this, and yet still they serve. It's about havin the courage to take the path not fit for everyone else.

^^^^....Bro, you're kinda extreme on some real Sh*t. SO basically you're saying that we as a people shouldn't fight for a country in which we have invested, and contributed to greatly? If that's so, You have to be against Blacks in professional sports. i mean, we all know that most of te talented players are Black, and we must be makin money for the White man.
yea we made this country but what do we have to SHOW for it? we are not appreciated and given our dues so why should we die for it? and you can't compare the military to sports
