lol. Oh Lord. Not tryin to disrespect the sistas of the lighter persuasion. Just establishing that the song in particular, in my opinion, was what kinda started the "light skin girls are more attractive than dark skin girls" thing especially up here in NYC. I mean u dont hear any song about us chocolate sistas. lol. let me stop. But yea, there ain't nothing wrong with being light skin, dark skin, and everything in btwn. In the end, we're all connected as beautiful black women and complexion and skin tones shouldnt be wat divides us as sisters.

I hate that term " good hair " also...it actually sickens me when I hear another black person say so and so has good hair? What is that suppose to mean? That because your hair is straighter and long and doesnt need relaxers its " good. " Black people and thier ignorance I tell you. Its the same thing I see on Facebook. Groups called " i have good hair and im proud? B*tch and??? Seriously tho...its just silly and ignorant that in todays society we STILL got black people thinking white so its gotta be right.
Im in that group! But I think the creator wasn't using the term to put anyone down. The title was probably used to grab attention. The people in the group have all different textures and grades of hair. If you keep your hair clean and styled, you have "good hair"... There is a group also called "Brown Sugar: Cause them light skinned **** are going out of style", but I don't get offended by that, because hopefully whoever named that group was joking.
yea I hear what you saying...and I feel the same about those groups geared towards different shades of being dark/light. Hopefully they are just jokin...but I never join groups like that either cause we are all BROWN SKINNED at the end of the day. Regardless of the shade it is, brown is beautiful PERIOD. We need to stop gettin stuck up on things that dont matter. Thats all im really saying...

I dont think skin color regardless of how " light or dark " they may be makes them ****. Maybe other features do, but I have seen some dudes who look like straight midnite, black as hell...but fine as ever...and Ive also seen some dudes who just look black, but they have no features that make then attractive at all....and the same goes for the extra light brothas. Complexion doesnt make you ****. Features do.

But I never considered Caramel as light-skinned... I think of it as the in-between complection. All it takes is a writer and a beat, and there can be a song decdicated to darker complected women. "Brown Skin" by India.Arie definitely wasn't talking about me, but I appreciate the song nontheless...

yeah i feel u. lol. the in between complexion? hmmm....neva figured it that way. i guess thats kinda true. either way though. and as for the whole "**** features" thing. Ladies, and i thought u would understand this the most. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. NO ONE is ****. EVERYONE is attractive or unattractive to SOMEBODY. i dont think that Denzel is the finest brother in the world, and i didn't think Luther Vandros (R.I.P.) was that damn fine but there are numerous females that would disagree with me. I think that Ludacris and Morris Chestnut are some of the finest men in the world, but my best friend thinks they're hideous. features dont really have anything to do with it. It's all about what you define as beautiful or handsome.

^^^^^^THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!! was waiting to see who'd be the first to mention that. tanning salons and such. Do you realize that the African-American (and black people in general) race is the most imitated race there is in THE WORLD? Yo, in Japan they got these ppl, i forget there exact names, it starts with a G, but they try to imitate what they think it is to be black. They rock mad Enyce, Rocawear, braid their hair, blah blah. While i'm on this subject. How many of ya'll are TIRED of hearing some ignorant a** person saying that you're not "acting black" if you behave a certain way (ie. dont lissen to hip-hop, speak properly, are SUCCESSFUL)? if that ain't the most...let me get ghetto "ignant" thing i've ever heard in my life, i dont know what is. :x

What I was inferring was that the songs "Caramel" and "Brown Skin" are both alike because they both revolve around the theory that you should adore and cherish the skin that you're in (be confident). Clearly, I know I'm black. I love being black! BUT my skin aint brown. Ol' girl had a problem with the song "Caramel" because she claims it glorifies light skin. I'm not saying I can't relate to the song "Brown Skin"... I was explaining that you should be able jam to both songs no matter what your complexion is because they are about loving yourself... Not about somebody's complection being more popular and attractive... But like Demmeri says often, Ima have to click the *stop watching topic button*, because I see you all are simply ranting.
