let me set the record str8 on the republican party....#1. no republican wants to cut the government aid programs. However WE and yes that includes me think and feel that most of the aid programs are misused and abused by all races of people not just black folk. For years the Black race has been blinded by the democratic non-sense. I wish the Black race valued History as much as we do African American history. #2 to set the record str8 on my family, my family has for over 6 generations now refused to take money from the government. It has been our belief and still is that someone out ther NEEDED that and as long as we could work we didn't. WORK.....that's the key, get off the couch and work and for crying out loud, use your money wisely, if you can't afford to pay your rent stop trying to be a balla and drive the phattest car on the block and wearing designer clothes.
like i said, a majority of the republicans do want to cut out alot of the government programs so maybe you're the one who needs to check up on that. Who are you to say that alot of people who are on this stuff don't need it? Sure, alot of people are getting it who could work but sometimes the good has to suffer with the bad. Whats wrong with demcrats? They are more down to help the poor than the republicans are? Shouldnt the US be helping people? Its crazy now most republicans are for the war right, spending millions over there when its poor people here starving because they are cutting back government programs. The old people here in MS medicare or whatever it is called got highly cut because of the republicans decided to do it. My family isnt on any type of government funding program. We dont have food stamps, wic nor do i get free lunch. My parents make "decent" money and we are democrats because they are more down than the republicans are to help BLACKS. ITs true. When it comes down to your race, lets be real, do you honestly think a rich white republican will help a poor black man before a black man would help? NOOOOOOOOO

This is a lesson folks. Don't let anyone zealous about ANYTHING educate you. George Bush has done more for poor people than Clinton has. You don't get rid of national debt "unscathed". My problem is though, that what Bush has done, does not equate to anywhere near what Clinton did monetarily-wise. I mean, Clinton had $10 and spent $8 of it on poor folks. Bush had $100 and spent $20.
I expected hate mail and responses with my post, however I think my post was taken to a level it was not intended to go. The reason for the post was to see if there were any other black college students who were connected to the Republican Party. No where in my post did I intend to make anyone feel inferior or less than anybody else. Money does not make you a person, I know rich snobs and buttholes and I know a lot of people who aren't in poverty, but who aren't rich either who are the greatest people on this earth. Being a Democrat doesn't make you a better person than a Republican or Independent or vice versa. I'm not your average black man, and I have never been and will never be. My views and opinions are usually shot down by black people, but I'm use to it, and one thing that has been said in ths post that I must agree with is simply.....everybody has their right to their opinion and nobody needs to be put down because of it. I want to be the first to apologize if i have offended anyone with this post, that was not my intention.
I am ignoring most of the comments in this thread. Most of the people posting can barely form consistent sentences, much less articulate what they wish to say.
I'm not fond of our current president, but I don't see it as an indictment against the entire party. John McCain is still a great guy, as well as Colin Powell, JC Watts, Condeleeza Rice and even Armstrong Williams.
It is good to see that black people are not monolithic. Stand on your convictions brother.
