Curious: Do You Go Home For Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Hello HBCU Students: Do you get to go home for both Thanksgiving and Christmas? I am curious because I mentioned to a fellow HBCU mom that my son was coming home this year for both holidays. She went on about what a "waste" of time and money that was and she also said that MOST college kids do not and that I was spoiling my child... I could not imagine not having our family together for Thanksgiving... We are actually planning on going to the Bayou Classic with another family this year to show our support. What do you get to do? Surely going home for both is not being spoiled right?

i go home for Christmas break (the dorms close up). I never go for Thanksgiving. I can't afford back to back plane tickets to go all the way across the country to Cali

I'm going back home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I'll probably be gone for about a week, because my Tuesday's class is cancelled, and since my Monday's class is a videotape lecture, that means I'll get to watch the tape when I come back after Thanksgiving. But I'll probably end up studying anyway, because I have an exam that following Thursday. :???:
