WHY DO GREEKS HAZE? i have been in college for 2.5 years now and i still can't figure it out...but then i'm not greek. Why do people haze???
First Hazing comes in different forms: Physical and mental.
Hazing really started to see where a person's "heart" was with respect to joining that org. From there, it evolved into more intense/drastic processes.
Now-a-days, some/alot of people haze just to get back, or do what was done to them.
i'm sorry.....maybe i should ask a greek that question, even though they'll probably talk in some more circles......what is your def of hazing, GREEKS, and why do you do it to people that are pledging/on line to become a part of the organization you are in, GREEKS........hopfully its more clear now?....... :-k

I don't hate/dislike greeks just this ONE question and NO ONE WILL ANSWER :???:
and maybe all of you don't do it, but i know a chapter of a good amount of devine nine greeks that have been kicked off the yard for physical hazing......so dont try to pretend like it doesn't happen :x

Not trying to get at you sideways but understand you are a stranger asking a somewhat serious question over the internet. You could be asking something as simple as "Why is the sky blue?" but don't be suprised if nobody feels obligated to answer because to the vast majority you are nameless individual who is trying to find out something where the answers you'll find will be the same if not better in a simple google on the history of hazing.
Also what is the purpose/intent of your question? How will it affect your life if I or somebody else chooses to sit down and really answer your question? (these aren't rhetorical questions btw)
Anyway... on some real stuff you are going to hear a million and one different answers as to why greeks haze and some real stuff these days you'll probably run into a few greeks who don't really know themselves.
Personally, I think you need to rephrase your question to "Why does hazing exist at all"...
...whether it is in the military, sports, the band, clubs, school, police force, church, whatever it goes well beyond fraternities and can be found throughout the world and its history. In some cultures its looked down upon, in many others whats considered hazing is very much a part of their rites of passage.
The definition of hazing usually tends to be pretty broad and can be twisted in favor of a lot of things to the point where going to class everyday, taking test, answering questions that i really don't feel like answering could be stretched into a form of hazing if I wanted to by some definitions.

Hazing is what you make it. Hell, blindfolding is considered hazing. You could say that "Making the Band" and "Ultimate Hustler" features alot of hazing.
Im gonna say this......If you're in a secret society, would you just let ANYBODY in it? Wouldn't you make them earn it? You could say you're not going to haze them, but instead make them earn it. However you make the aspirant earn their membership, it can be twisted in to being called hazing. Hazing has the biggest gray area when trying to identify it. Watch what you ask.

Your right I do know. I know that is still incorrect. What you just described is a Society with Secrets. Not a Secret Society.
If KKPsi were a secret society than the Society at large would have no knowledge of it.

Again I ask, who are you? What org are you apart of? Better yet, what do you know about the inner workings of KKPsi? Since Psi isn't a secret society I guess you could tell me EVERYTHING about KKPsi right? Please don't try to tell me what MY or anyone elses org is.
