When Has A Non-Member Overstepped Their Boundaries Posted on 05-20-2004
C Diddy

I know I am quite knowledgable about black greek organizations (among other things). But when do you think a non-member has overstepped their boundaries. I've been to a web site that was composed of mainly west coast greeks and I know that many of the comments stated by non-members in this forum wouldn't fly over their (mine included). I just wanted to know, aside from perping, when do you think a non-greek has overstepped the boundaries?

And the comment about being secretive is bullsh*t...... not everyone has to know you want to pledge (just like not everyone knows I want to pledge...this is the net)...but there is a since of welcoming that frats need to uphold.....why would I want to be in a frat that beat me, abused me, made me eat ish, and other stuff for brotherhood....I am sorry but my brother never did those things and we have very strong bond that extends out of maternity.....if you cant come with a better answer for your argument you shouldnt speak at all....you know I am right and thats why its so hard to argue....we as a people are stuck on status and wanting dominate someone else because mentally we are still dominated by the post-institution of slavery....( feeling we cant beat the white man so lets beat on each other instead so I can feel more of a man)....getting your **** kicked is not being a man it makes you stupid....and this is officially my last post...if you have anymore concerns send it to the PM if not live good man and be safe.. Personally, I feel both of you guys are behaving in a rather sophomoric manner. Kappanup, as a prospective member of a particular Greek org I understand your eagerness and will. Along those lines, I also understand how incredibly disrespectful you are being. Although, I do not agree with everything that has been said to you I still think it is only appropriate for you to humble yourself and show reverence; for they have already accomplished what you have your heart set to accomplish. I’ve found that if you approach Greeks in a proper fashion they are more than willing to interact with you in a way that upholds diplomacy. There has to be order and formality to everything or else there would be complete chaos. I’m glad you made the decision to change your screen name because not only is it blatantly disrespectful to the Kappas, but it is disrespectful to any Greek. Datdude, I was with you until you said, “you're just like everybody else who is interested in fraternities/sororities...it's the glamour and glitz behind it all that attracts you”. That’s a foul assumption on your part bro. Not everyone wants pledge for superficial reasons. Some of us really do believe in what the organizations stand for. I can only speak for myself but I know my interest in a particular fraternity goes far beyond the “glitz” and the “glamour”. Kappanup, I a hope you are successful in your quest to become a Kappa. Datdude, congratulations! I see you crossed this spring. I know it’s not an easy journey and I have an immense amount of respect for the courage, humility, and perseverance it takes to become Greek. Stay positive black people!

^^^He has a point... Don't forget about the princples of your organization, but then again, don't let them blind you. Many Greeks did in fact pledge just for letters, which is sad. You'd be hard pressed to find a Greek actually upholding their principles. Fortunately, I can speak for my frat and say that we are upfront with our purpose and specific. We do more than community service. If you just want to be a part of an organization for its princples that purely exemplifies them, I'd mention Alpha Phi Omega. But since you wanna be a Kappa, remember what their principles are while at the same time, thats not what your gonna see. All people see are the canes and playboy bunnies just like the Ques and the dog collars, gold boots, and camoflauge pants. Is any of this making sense? It's sorta hard to explain, but anyways, good luck to ya brotha! When the Kappas do come back to Howard, thats gonna be one highly competitive line to make. Damn near half of Drew Hall this past year perpin like they was pretty boys....smh...... I have my frat, and I hope one day you'll make it across the sands to yours.

I dont have my letters yet but I do know that discreation is a must. My bestfriend is greek and one thing she says that if any lady wants to be apart of her organization....one must exemplify principles of good stature, etc. I truly believe if you do step to a member of any organization in a respectful manner; they will give up the upmost respect.

They changed the rules so you can only change your SN at certain times. I've been trying to change mine for the longest but I think you have to wait till like the 3rd SAT of the month to do it because so many people were changing their SNs in the past.

I'll tell u when u've gone TOO FAR. When u just talking to someone who is non-greek and u say "yeah... I came through SPR 04...#11, such and such a chapter" and u just happen to be talking to a GOOD friend of that lines DP!! and so it gets back to that person that the friend was talking #11 about coming through her Chapter and it comes to light that there were only 10 girls on the line!! All in all.... if that person is reading this right now.... there is only room for ONE TAIL DOG to MY line and that ONE is ME!! Zeta Alpha.... the one and ONLY #10...SPR 04!
