I am a student at Clark Atlanta University and this is my last year and I can tell you that I love CAU!
What is good about it?
1) Our Business School and Mass Media Arts programs are one of the toped ranked schools amoung HBCUs.
2) We have a very loving and friendly enviroment.
3) We have excellent research programs for biology, chemistry and engineering majors. My best friend is an engineering major and you would be amazed with the type of research she conducts.
4) We have many successful alumni
5) You learn so much about yourself and African American history. It will make you proud to embrace your history and yourself as an African American (which I am sure is the case with most HBCUs ).
6) We have the **** homecomings.
7) Student life is the ****.
I could go on and on about the good aspects because I love my university so much and I am proud to say that I attend one of the top ranked HBCUs. The bad:
1) Administration can be a pain in the **** (I am sure that is with most colleges though even PWI...I have heard stories of financial aid problems at almost every university). However, there are ways to work around the system, you just have to learn the system.
2) The area is not a good one. However, they are working to rebuild this area. The classrooms and 4 of the freshmen dorms are on main campus which is closed off to the locals (just like Spelman and Morehouse's campus) but we have like 5 dorms that are not on main campus which is why some people would consider it an open campus... Once you come and visit you will understand. But once you learn your way around you will realize it is not as bad as people make it out to be. Most HBCUs are in bad areas or in "tha hood" so it's pretty much the same you know. It's what you make it.
My experience at CAU has been a great one. Clark is a great school and I have learned so much since my arrival here. Clark has taught me so much academically, politically, socially and even financially. Being here has challenged me as a student and I am glad I made the decision to attend such an exceptional university.
Also Clark Atlanta was in debt last year and closing programs...keep that in mind
Not true at all... If you want to know the real deal hit me up and I will tell you.
Please people make sure you know the facts before you continue to spread things that are not true. Thanks. Forget what you heard. I work closely with a lot of the administration so if anyone has any questions on CAUs academic or financial standing you can hit me up. And for the record, none of the programs have closed.
^^^i must agree wit u gurl. when i was visiting clark, no one really bothered me. u dont need to be worried about gettin shot @ when ur by clark. but i mean, it is wise to take someone with u if ur gonna be walkin the streets @ night. but wouldnt u want to do that @ any school u attend??
Whats Great about CAU?
It's across the street from MOREHOUSE COLLEGE
Ha ha ha..I'm just playing...it's all AUC LUV...see ya'll at Olive Branch...I'll be the guy who's too old to be there!
CLASS OF '05 BIATCHES!!!!!
CLARK IS AN A+++++++++++ SCHOOL in my opinion
The main campus is shared with my school, and it is kept up for the most part.
I'm involved in alot of Mass Communication programs at Clark, so I know the department of communications there is tight...
the only downside about CAU is it mingles with the Westend Projects and ghetto...
However, the whole AUC is surrounded by the ghetto; even if you have a gate protected by your school.
Hell I know hell of locals who come to Morehouse and Spelman Parklot!
But if you decided to attend Clark, be careful at night in the AUC period....and always walk in groups of catch the shuttle....other than that...
ENJOY!!!
