HAMPTON UNIVERSITY ****!!! Posted on 07-11-2004

Hey I can relate to you some....campus life does get a little better during the fall because they tend to have more parties. But a lot of times you have to create your own fun. Of course coming from up North or from a big city it's going to be boring. I don't know from personal expericence but because my best friend happened to be from New York. I know it **** that you can't have a car your freshmen or sophmore year, but u can always work around that one. Try to befriend upper classmen so that you can get a ride to Norfolk, because the mall downtown is nice....there is three levels. Plus there is Va beach, Bush Garden's, and Kings Dominion which isn't too far....it's all about connections and finding means of transportation. During the regular school year especially in the fall there are football games and stuff. For some people after a while it kind of grows on you and then for some other people it just isn't for them. The cafe food...*laughs* There isn't anything positive I can say about that..I know I avoided the cafe a many of days...

Thank you HamptonBeauty_08 for saying what you did. THis is Keys by the WaY, always playin the piano but anywho Hampton is a school that you will have to work hard and not play around. THe precollege program is exactly what its suppose to be, get credit, party a little and meet people. COllege is not a big party so don't expect it to be fun every second of the day. To sum everything up, Hampton...college period is what you make it.

I am at Pre-college at Morgan right now and before I came I wasn't looking to have fun and go to parties and all that. I know Im here to pass these classes so I will be able to attend Morgan in the fall. Pre-college has just turned me off from Morgan. Im happy I came to pre-college though because now I know ahead of time that I want to transfer. I mean, everyone here is so disorganized its ridiculous. I haven't recieved a housing assignment, nothing from finanical aid or my schedule and I did that stuff months ago. They made sure to mail me with that bill for Pre-college though, on time too  . Its so many reasons besides those stated but Im outta here.

What is it with black folk always wanting to be entertained? The intent should be to have a little fun while learning, not to learn a little while having fun. I don't think it is acceptable to diss a school just because you don't have the discipline to take advantage of what the school was estabished for- your education. I don't mean to preach, but y'all done got me started. I know it is redundant, but it is true- the founders of these schools didn't put their sweat and tears into these institutions so that you can't get crunk at pre-college. And to those who say your school is unorganized, i sympathize. But these schools are run by humans, who are subject to humanity, i.e imperfection. Don't forfeit your education, opportunities, and blessings for instant gratification. Put your game face on.

most of all colleges, especially HBCUs are not organized, if u aint got a room assignment yet it cause for the last few years the freshman classes have been getting bigger and they have to find all freshman on campus housing, just go to residence life and talk to them about it, for financial aid just go to the office, and you have to go to advisors and do your own schedule, the school has almost 7000 people so some stuff will take a while, if you feel it is taking that long check it for yourself cause there is an office for all of those and they are open daily, i just dont see how much stuff could be that bad during summer pre-college

Yea Yea Yea to you all who holdin it down for your school. I feel yall rep where yall at and rep where yall going. Education is all good thats hwy i came but c'mon Pre-College has to be the most unorganized program i have ever attended. They definatly aint treating many of these well deserving young adults like adults. it seems as if administration can't make their minds up on events. But one thing i feel is their hustle Kings Dominion never heard of it or seen it but all I know that is they got these kids paying what is it $25 $30 for a trip and on top off that they got them buying t-shirts costing $12 or $15?!! LOL wow what are they dogs. C'mon. But we got a week left so im heading out.
Maybe u werent ready to off to college and A D J U S T....everything is not going to work smoothly and at the pace that u think it should be......and thats no matter where u go....Hampton, Howard, a PWI-wherever. And KD is an amusement park, if u went u probably would have liked it.....oh...but oops-VA is wayyy to boring for you. If you really checked out the location and found our about Hampton before u attended....what is the problem? I m sure u saw that Hampton is not a very big bustling city.....*smh*-but big ups to whatever u do with ur life :?
all im sayin is yea yea yea yea....im gettin me education up and imma be out...but damn this place cant be this lame.

Doesn't cite mean to go back and list where you got a particular piece of information from? As in the "Works Cited" page, which is just like a bibliography? If I am correct... why would she cite her statement? Do you mean "preview"? Just a question.

Why are yall on his back just because he doesnt like Hampton... Yall gettin offended and ish! When I first visited FAMU, I how my doubts about it. But orientation helped me realize that I could work with it. But u better believe that after freshman year if I feel there is a better place for me, I WILL BE TRANSFERRING with no hesitation! Why do black folks feel that we have to settle? Like we have to accept disorgnization and rudeness... I kno I dont! But right now I am reppin for FAMU!!!!

Nobody is on his back for not wanting to go to Hampton... it's the fact that I have never heard of ANYONE mistaking Hampton for being in the middle of a bustling city. Hell, I knew that Hampton was in the middle of nowhere when I was a freshman in high school. He should have checked all of this out before making his final decision. And then... he hasn't even started REAL college yet... pre-college at Hampton is also comprised of summer bridge students; meaning some students NEED pre-college to get officially admitted into Hampton. They are not going to have parties every night and so forth because these students are there to handle business.. NOT to party. We are just saying that before starting threads like "HAMPTON UNIVERSITY ****", he needs to give it a chance.
