The Lord has a way of revealing those of us who really know him, and those that don't! Think about it!
Bush gave a big speech last week about how his faith is so "important" to him. In this attempt to convince the American people that we should consider him for president, he announced that his favorite Bible verse is John 16:3.
Of course the speech writer meant John 3:16, but nobody in the Bush camp was familiar enough with scripture to catch the error. And do you know what John 16:3 says?
John 16:3 says; "And they will do this because they have not known the Father nor Me".

There is no 16th chapter in any of the three books of John, nor a passage anywhere in the Bible (either the KJV or standard translations) quoting "...and they will do this because they have not known the Father nor Me."
I invite you all to consult the New Testament, and see for yourself.
I John 3:16: "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."
Of more interest to you might be the next verse, quoted (standard version) as follows:
I John 3:17: "But if any one has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
Now there's one to debate. Holla!
Well...with all due respect, I'm looking through the Bible right now, and there is a John 16:3 (not from the three epistiles of John, but from The Gospel According to Saint John). So in other words, I believe the person was referring to St. John, instead of I John, II John, or III John.
In the KJV, it reads, "And these things will they do unto you, because they have not known the Father, nor me."
In the NKJV, it reads, "And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me."
However, I did look up I John 3:16 and I John 3:17, and it says the same things you typed.
I just wanted to clarify that. That's all.
